Those latter levels can break most men.

My one crit is it doesn't introduce the player to making state switches with pistons and a loose block.

I was enjoying this until I got to a mission where it wanted me to fix a base and set up trains somehow and explained absolutely nothing about anything.

There were underground pipes at one place that didn't seem to be able to connect to anything above ground with anything I could use. The pipes which go from above to below ground seemed like the obv choice but did not work.

SS13 is a great game with a lot of mechanical depth. However, I would argue that the most mental stimulation is to be found on HRP servers like Baystation or Aurora, because they actually require decent writing skills in addition to mastery of the game mechanics.

Not to mention those servers are painfully slow so making decisions and being robust is inherantly easier. People should try /vg/station on here if they want to be really tested on a server with a good tickrate

That's better.

Really though, the whole "don't fly what you can't afford" thing works both ways. It's fun to junkfit a Thrasher and catch miners or ships that can't target you.
>>
>>365953423
Unlike other types of pipes, underground pipes are directional - you can only connect shit to them from one direction.
The mission with the trains can get somewhat frustrating and confusing though, because it's pretty hard to wrap your head around setting up trainstations and train signals for automated trains.

it's all a matter of having a little patience though.

>>365954104
You've clearly not played much of it.

Pathologic is the deepest shit, though I'd consider it a very different type of intelligent from the autism games threads like these are usually about.

I don't know. Pathologic, Factorio, Infinifactory, Space-Chem are all very close to my personal top 10 games (in fact, Pathologic is sitting unasaulted at the very top of it). I do actually believe they are very likely to be enjoyed by similar kind of people: most notably people who like to think more than to push buttons quickly, and by people who are patient and willing to learn and question their own judgement, as they all do require those things to be enjoyed.

They all demand certain level of dedication (more than most other games) to even begin being enjoyable, and they all torture you a bit, make you feel insecure and even miserable, and eventually reward you in a less obvious, but uniquely satisfying ways.

Pathologic does do it through narrative while the other games mentioned, including Factorio, do it through their mechanics, but I think that isn't quite as important.

I imagine that will happen if you get several hundred hours (or however long) into it to the point where all the AI making their moves slows things to a crawl anyway. It's pretty much the same thing as DF's FPS death. I think I have had it crash a handful of times in the dozen or so hours I've played it so far but it's not a frequent thing, at least in my experience.

What game is this? I've been recently looking for flight sims since they've recently started looking fun to me.
>>
>>365960810

Shit, I enjoyed the fuck out of Flight Simulator and Ace Combat back when I was a teen and that .webm makes me want to fly a plane again.

What's a decent airplane game on the PC these days? With combat/bombing/dogfighting preferably.

>>
>>365959625
i have the most autistic reason for why i failed to get into aurora: i got weirded out that it was balanced so that you start out with a population only in the millions in stead of in the billions.
>>
>>365961000
DCS
I've never played it myself, that was just the first sim-related webm I could find. Heard very good things about the game, though.
>>
>>365961447
When you set up the game you can change the population. I just started up the new game screen and the default is 500 million but you can change that and while it's set to take numbers in millions you might be able to put like 1000 million for 1 billion or other numbers like that.

Though another thing that might trigger your OCD is that all the months in the game have 30 days as the creator says it makes the math easier.

>>365961779
That's actually one that I bought with the Warthog addon since that's apparently the best one. From what I've heard the quality of the different plane addons varies a lot.

>Would I like Pathologic if I like eastern yurop games?
I would guess your chances are good. But Pathologic is an insane game with insane amount of issues. It's weird, it's incredibly clunky and slow, quite a few aspects of the game are legitimately just really poorly done (like U.I., lack of proper explanations of basic mechanics, god-awful combat system). Others are not results of incompetence, but are still a deal-breaker for most players. The game is slow. Absolute majority of time is spent slowly walking from place to place. Despite that, it's also legitimately hard and punishing, and actively tries to screw you over.

Finally, it's confusingly written, and really, really bleak. It's a seriously depressing game, exhausting to play and giving very little encouragement for the player to keep playing. It's just draining.

So consider all of those things. Maybe pirate it before buying it so that you can see for yourself and don't feel fucked over. Here is a nifty little set of tips if you do decide to give it a try though.
