I haven't watched a speedrun in 3 years now. It's a shame really. AGDQ2013 was magical. It wasn't expected to be so popular, but it was, and it was great because of it. Then SGDQ 2013 was too big for it's own britches and fucking sucked. every one since has tried to become more and more professional and is hurt because there's a total lack of charm with how sterile it's become, on top of the GDQ staff never picking new games. It's always the same boring banjo kazooie, super metroid, sm64, that everyone's seen a billion times and are so optimized they don't change.

I think it was because they did impressions of a celebrity and encouraged people to talk shit about an airline on Twitter, and I guess expressing any sentiments about people or organisations that they might consider negative isn't allowed. They also probably just didn't like the tone of the run, there was some video I remember where GDQ people bitched about it. They might've been mad it was more about a personality than the game and that the run didn't do the game justice or provide a good example of a successful speedrun of the game, I don't know.
