Not OR, and really like this, but a tip: When scanning ink pieces, downsize them with photoshop to 44 or 66% of the original size. Otherwise they'll look bigger than they did to you on paper, thus just looking different and more chaotic overall. Big sizes are great for print, but don't make too much online if they aren't horizontally composed, wallpaper-tier pictures. This size, I can see the jaggedness of your lines, which is intrinsic to ink when working with pen and nib, but starts to look great from a bigger distance, which digitally again means downsizing.

No it isn't. There isn't one pixel of bounce light and the one lighting source is applied with pure white. The reds are just saturation-shifted instead of hue-shifted which works especially terrible for the specific color red (in this case, makes it look like a very washed down pink when illuminated red would never, ever look that way).
On top of that, everything is just local values, depth is completely unaccounted for.
It's really not that far off from how children do their bucket fill ins.

His head is quite tiny in comparison to the rest of his body, which makes his weight topple and proportions look off, especially since anime-stylization usually enlarges the heads and Ky isn't too muscly. What software do you use? Your lines lack AA and look oddly pixely, almost as if you used paint, the pencil tool on PS, or even something like Pixelate or Graphicsgale. Latter point is no critique, just wondering!

Paint Tool Sai. It's the graphite texture of the brush I use. Yeah thats a fair case to make about the proportions, but If you look closely, the head units actually match perfectly with the third head unit bottom lining at the navel as well as the fourth unit bottom lining with the crotch. Lets just say I was going for a more realistic approach rather than an anime one. I suppose I'll make the head bigger post processing. Thanks.

Ah, alright! Heard a lot of good things about Sai. I'd still recommend maybe using a differently textured brush, since that pixely aesthetic, as you noticed, more evokes paint and the like than, well, actual graphite.
I think it's his outfit and hair that makes his head look as small. It might not be it's "vertical" size, but how narrow it is- his head fits almost two times into each shoulder in your drawing, which is a rare occurence even for maximum buff bodybuilder-types. But I think you won't even have to resize much, just a little bit should be sufficient to make this fantastic.

Well, the pose is way too stiff it's like a mannequin with no energy.
Secondly, the hands and feet are too small and the right hand is missing the palm/is too artifically perpendicular to the camera, all the fingers are wrapped around at the same angle but the human hand would wrap around with a curve, outward to inward from index to pinky. Also, the way the sword is held is poor especially with his left arm/hand, which looks more like it's gently pushing the end of the sword; and remember that the stronger the strike, the closer the hands need to be to each other, otherwise you won't have as much of a swinging force cause the weapon cannot rotate as much. That goes well with the exaggeration of an action pose.

And while those are sorta realistic proportions, he looks a little too short to be the heroic guy slaying zombies with a katana. I'm betting the actual character is taller in the bio. I mean the kneeling zombie almost reaches his eye level.

The moment portrayed is a little sub optimal in my opinion. It's a swing that is just about to finish cutting the body. You either want to portray a swign right before the cut during the lunge, in the exact middle of it, or after the swing happened and has just slowed down. This feels an awkward inbetween. If you were taking several pictures of the actions, this wouldn't be the snapshot you'd pick, for example.

Anyway, don't you care about disappointing me anon, I just commented on it because I felt it's worse than what your real skill is. Maybe you just don't put a lot of attention to the process if it's just deliveries and that's perfectly fine.

I absolutely agree with you on the pose! I was thinking at first you were talking about the face or clothes, and I'm rather happy with those. But yes, I agree, it's way too stiff. I've never seen a real sword attack and had to work from shitty photo-references, so your information about how that'd look is extremely helpful since I just had no idea about that and thus struggled a bit with it. Thank you a lot for the pointers.
Admittedly, originally I intended for this to be a quick pencil sketch. Because I liked the designs of the Haunted so much, I started to draw around the initial sketch, which explains the messed up perspective and odd composition (because there basically is none, I just kept on adding stuff in because it was fun).
I generally skip the sketch-up phase for free requests and mostly ink my initial, first sketch for quicker deliveries. Basically it was first just him, then the zombie he cut (with me thinking "aw fuck the sword's too low, gotta make the Zombie kneel or something, shit"), then the others, then the background. I should probably mind process just as much for free requests than with actual jobs, since I can only profit from the learning experience. I agree with everything in your post and want to thank you again for the helpful pointers, especially about the sword.

I usually would have used a sponge, but this time I haven't- I just a few brushes, some that are worthless for fine painting now because of how fucked they are (best thing for trees, though) and a napkin to suck some excess ink out.
