Genesis is not behind blizzard and meteor shower. It has the highest base magic attack, and it is different because of its holy attribute.

The other mages are MUCH, MUCH stronger than Bishops. A Bishop has to work hard to get really good equipment and level up to ~145+ to start 1-hitting mobs. Arch mages can do that on the same mobs by level 130, hands down, and some by level ~125.

The entire kit is healing, buffs, and other helpful spells except for magic claw, holy arrow, and shining ray. And of course, those attacks are weaker than other classes' because you aren't meant to be a frontline fighter.

If you were playing it before 4th came out you know when picking out the class you're going to be a healer. It's the niche the class fits, no one else can do it. You don't do as much damage on your own. You can solo, when need be, but it's not ideal because the class was DESIGNED to help others.


So yes, genesis made the class do a 180 and made some other classes obsolete for no reason. No one else can train as well as them, so no other class is viable if they don't do good dps (or have hyper body) I say this as someone who was a priest main.

Here's one I took just right this very second.

game is dead for 2 reasons right now.

No major patches at the standard time pissed off a LOT of people on KMS, I mean a lot. Most people stopped playing till the major patch in a few days.

2: Tespia is up, the test server which has all the new content that's gonna be on the main server, so most people are playing that.

There's more people on tespia than i've ever seen before, I think the fact this is more 5th job content, AND a bunch of new shit including changes to some long existing content (part time jobs and character cards) made people interested in checking it out.


MS2 (the 3D one) died a horrible, painful death, and has recently attempted to reinvent itself. It's been adding content at a more reasonable pace than the one they were using before (following the same patch schedule as maple 1. 2 major patches in winter and summer, minor patches every month.) only they weren't adding any content to maple 2 except during the major patches. For a game not 2 years old, that's unacceptable. You gotta pump that shit UP.

Anyway, they introduced a patch called RESET which is basically a HUGE dump of content, including added skill points to fix the awkward crystal skill upgrade system, changes to the way dungeons function, bosses function, and really too much shit for me to fit in one post, plus I don't have the notes on hand to translate.

Basically ms2 is a brand new game, and from what i've HEARD it's much better. I can't play it to confirm though.

Well that's a shame. I liked MS2 for the leveling aspect, and until I got to the endgame at launch which was just grinding world bosses for gear then praying you didn't get thrown into PVP with someone who bought elixir50s.

That said, I wouldn't count on twitch streamers being a good judge of population for a game. Maple 1 is still one of the most popular afreeca stream games, I think it's in third behind league and overwatch, so, it's low standing on twitch is pretty funny in comparison.

But maple 2, even hardcore ms1 players weren't fans when it started, and I can't remember anyone really picking it up.

It's a shame, really. I liked the idea of the shadow realm, and the focus on a more endgame experience than MS1, but they fucked it up by just having potentials dominate everything you did, only you couldn't even reroll and had to pray you got a drop with good lines the next time.

When I played MS2, there was no endgame content. You could run PQs in the dark world which offered okay gear, or grind on world bosses (they spawn every like hour and a half to two hours) to try and get the highest tier equipment

then PVP was necessary as it offered huge rewards in mesos for winning, which you needed to upgrade your shit like skills and gear.

But, that changed not long after launch. It turned into doing mostly PQs and raids (10+ man boss runs) to kill bosses and get higher tier gear. PVP has sort of fallen by the wayside except with guild battles which are 3v3 competitions to determine the skill of guilds, and give bonus rewards like premium currency for winning and placing well, and the top 5 I think guilds get a special spot in tria (the main hub town) with a special equipment shop with fixed potentials that are pretty strong. Nothing gamebreaking, and you can grind out better, but if you're rerolling a character and need to gear it, that's the way to go.

Oh, nah. I typed it up wrong. PVP was originally every other half hour (the other half hour was an event which was cool, you could run it for cash equips) so you'd usually see people kill a world boss, then fuck off to the PVP arena, then event, then PVP, then the boss again.

PVP originally was pretty bullshit though, you could use cash shop bought potions which healed you for 50% of your max HP versus the flat amount HP potions, and there was a cooldown on them in PVP, so naturally those 50% elixirs were worth way fucking more than some dinky white pot.

they changed it eventually though, and pvp is something you queue for at will instead of every half hour now too.

fuck I really wish my PC wasn't garbage so I could play and take screenshots.

Maple M is pretty fun, and you don't need to know much Korean, but it's pretty p2w, as one might expect. You get to 120 (the current cap) and then you're just sitting there killing zakum and horntail when they add him sometime this or next month.

I've mostly been playing cause they had a bunch of crossover content with maplestory on PC. Pic related. I got a pet petit zakum in maple for my kaiser for beating him in maple M. Pretty fun shit.

No KSSN or anything needed for it either, you need a VPN to download it from google play, or you could just grab the APK from a site, I guess.

The grinding isn't what I am fond off, it was mostly going to new places and chatting with people. It felt like an adventure for me at the time, both the good and the bad.

Like bumping into a bunch of randoms forming a party and training together to hit 30 for 2nd job advancement, bumping into some newbies and giving them a helping hand, playing minigames on the trip to orbis, or forming a guild with a random bunch of people you met and chatted and trained with previously.

Getting scammed, only to become corrupted later and start scamming and exploiting others yourself. Its chaotic nature was fun, once moment you could be a Saint and Satan the next, good times.

Old maple to me was adventuring through a pretty world with cool looking skills and a fantastic soundtrack. I didn't care if there were some bosses I couldn't beat or super high level monsters in a nearby cave. I just liked exploring, talking with people, and bullshitting around with minigames and other nonsense. It's a shame, I don't think I'll ever see an mmo like that again, everything is focused on balancing classes and stroking your e-peen on how high dps you can do on the strongest boss.

Maple is still great for exploring, actually. The trick is to stop yourself from just fucking abusing all of the handhold-y methods of fast traveling.

I'd argue that outside of victoria island, maps have largely been improved over the years.

I'll still always love the original, circular vic island but I mean, the new one isn't bad, considering how streamlined the leveling experience is.
