You NEVER realize that, if the game were 100% convenient, it would be garbage. It would be a program that ran on your computer without your input. You'd get to "endgame" in 10 seconds, it'd tell you "you won maplestory!" and then it'd close.

"More convenient" is NOT "better". Inconvenience DEFINES video games, and MMOs especially. Those inconveniences force you into unoptimal and creative solutions. You meet friends along the way, because you're forced to interact instead of, for instance, buying an anonymous item off of a faceless auction hall.

And everywhere, it's always the same. They always go, "we need to be able to trade items without talking to other players. I need to be able to teleport from town to town without ever having to go through any of the content the devs designed. This is all distracting me from playing the game optimally."

And the devs fucking listen to you, because you're so fucking loud and prevalent and you SEEM so reasonable. Besides, less inconvenience means more time stuck in the Skinner Box. and that's ALWAYS good for business. So they remove all of the little quirks and imperfections that gave the game its charm. They remove or gut the leveling experience because it's just an "inconvenience" on the way to endgame. They put in an auction house, which immediately ruins the game's economy. P2W items start selling in the cash shop, and you all defend them because "technically it's not really P2W, really just Pay to Go Faster."

And everybody leaves but you. The game dies. But you're still happy, playing your soulless cashgrab.

You are the cancer that killed MMOs. Not WoW. Not F2P. You. Your fucking thirst for convenience lead to every single game becoming a homogenized, solitary piece of garbage.

I was, back in 2004-2008 before I quit. The most fun I ever had was when hacking became big and me and a friend finally figured out how to do it and when to the tunnels and killed monsters all morning and gained like 4 levels and a million mesos. Other than that the game was just grinding and getting upset when your RL friend went on without you and got a few levels ahead and how you can't party anymore, or your friend doesn't go on and you get ahead and you can't party anymore, or you are both partying and a good item drops (Like a snowboard or an inner tube) and you have to decide who gets it.

I loved all of those event items, I remember when snowboards first started and people were loaded into the slime trees and after finding a board they would put it up for sale for 15-25k and then a week later so many of them had dropped they were pretty much worthless unless you had the ones better than dark blue.

And I remember the first two years I played I bought a bunch of the Christmas ornaments for decorating the trees and stored them on my alternate. Then for some reason in the summer a few years later (because you can't buy them outside of December) I put them up for sale in my store for like 10,000k each and stupid people were buying them, and I'm pretty sure they were like 100 mesos each from the store in December.

Weapon attack is really valuable (especially for assassins). You can get lots of clean work gloves easily, and they don't have a job requirement so that they're useful to everyone except magician.

That would be a good point if we weren't talking about maplestory, where you were forced to sit in a boat for 15-30 minutes doing nothing except waiting. The boat to Orbis wasn't too bad; C-rogs were fun to kill when you were at their level, but every other boat was time-wasting bullshit. AND LETS NOT FORGET ABOUT THE FAMOUS TOWERS TO OMEGA SECTOR. That entire fucking area was abandoned due to the "inconvenience" of taking 20 minutes to climb down/up a massive series of maps just to kill some faggot aliens and grab some summoning bags.
Oh and lets not forget leveling

PQs were a fun way to level for maybe 10 runs, but shit like Orbis PQ it would take 50-100 runs just to level once.
Normal quests were almost never comeleting, sicne they all boiled down to

If I want to play a walking simulator I would play Yume Nikki or LSD Dream Emulaor. Pretty much anything designed to be a walking Simulator. Maplestory pre-BB no longer exist and Mapleroyals took all of the bad without any of the social fun that the original have. Mapleroyals is a walking sim when it wasn't designed to be such. In some ways I agree with him but he have his head so far up his ass I didn't want to add to his ego so I decided to stay silence until now.
