To me this game suffered in the same way Avatar The Legend of Korra did. It wad pretty good but the developers were pretty in tuned with the playerbase and decided to pander to them halfway through thinking it would please them. I really wish they hadn't done that.

The time travel thing is cool and all, but they never even try to explain why it happens. It's just there for the sake of the story.

The entire fourth episode is just a waste of time that doesn't do anything for anyone. At most, it makes the player afraid of what could happen, but because you have loltimetravel it doesn't matter. The actual choice at the end of the fifth episode would have felt just as important even if the fourth episode hadn't existed.

The ending is completely underwhelming and your "romance" options don't actually go anywhere.

Why would you not just play a good visual novel instead? Life is Strange did a lot of things competently, but nothing amazingly.

It was a good way of having the story malleable. You could stop to think about things and undo them if you weren't sure without having to do multiple playthroughs to see the direct consequences of some actions. It's totally fine to structure the story like LiS did.

The problem is that it doesn't exist for any reason other than to be a crazy plot device. The writers didn't even think about why there would be time travel in the first place, they just said "fuck it we're giving this character time travel power and that's the root cause of everything because it is".

It was incredibly insulting when they made a deadly storm occur and showed you a butterfly as their justification. That's total bullshit and an extremely contrived plot point. The writers had no respect for anything other than their own overrated story.
