Listen OP, I was there too. The franchise is lost to us, its soul is gone and it's being overtaken by Kingdom Hearts. Almost everything about the newer games frustrates me immensely, and I laughed like a madman when the news came that the VII remake might be episodic. It was the first time I understood the people who seriously hope for a videogame to come out and be bad.

Dynamic Resolution doesn't work like that.
Better to not say anything at all if you don't know enough about a topic rather than talk and be wrong.
Background assets aren't a set resolution, they're just 3D meshes with textures.
They don't change resolution themselves since they have no resolution to begin with, the game it self is rendered at a certain resolution, not the assets.
That's the only place where you have dynamic resolution, in the final image rendering output.
And if the game has dynamic resolution from 1080p to let's say, 720p, than you can't really call that a 1080p game.

All the early reviews are pretty positive. But those impressions are only based on B-roll footage and the first 6 hours of the game, which apparently covers the prologue to "chapter 3" ish.

Apparently after the dull "push your car along the road while we introduce the characters and car mechanics and stuff" prologue the game starts to pick up. And heaps features and distractions on you right out the gate, like the fishing, or cooking, or mastering the combat on wild animals.

Let's be honest. SquareEnix should MAN UP and stop being sellout whores who chase after western gaming trends (open world, action oriented, qte's and shit).

I can only see them getting back on track by going back to their roots.

- Bring back the turn based battle system which jrpgs and final fantasy is famous for

- focus on a good, widely appealing story

- create characters that not only appeal to gay kpop fans, but have a wider appeal, while still looking japanese/anime. Like Final Fantasy 7

That's just it. 3 simple fundametal pillars that could save the final fantasy brand.

probably even go handheld only. the develpment environment isn't as harsh there as it is on consoles, and a traditional mainline final fantasy could easily sell 10+ millions there. also handheld gamers dont have a problem with turn based battles. pokemon proves that every year, as well as fire emblem. there a plenty of gamers who love this style of gameplay, so why not cater to them?

but first, FFXV needs to be crucified for the sins Square Enix has committed of course.
