An MMO takes 10 years to be 'finished'. Most companies just release it 2 years into production, when the base combat and graphic engines are in a playable state.

Star Citizen was trying to buck that trend. But even they have realized they can't spend 10 years in development or else they will miss their hype window and lose their donation stream.

this goes for any game, being an MMO doesn't really make it more or less special.

some devs like rockstar, CDPR and whoever the fuck created metro 2033 actually work when they sit infront of a computer. they produce tons of content in only a few years. this is actually normal because a few years is a very long time to be working on any project.

the game development world is really fucked with retarded people who barely do any work. who take ages to produce the smallest things because nobody has a fucking clue as to what they're doing
