Kind of. He was a Mario 64 speedrunner who found a glitched out spot where you could make Mario float in the air, gaining "speed" as he floats there, so when you finally unlodge him he takes off like a bullet. Pannenkoek calls any spot where you can do that a "Pedro spot". So basically, the Large Hadron Collider, but applied to short Italian plumbers instead of particles.

This.

You retards don't understand the effects of overpopulation.

And an alternate fuel source already exists, it's called Nuclear fucking energy, but your big oil want you to keep using gas cars and coal to power your lives.

Electric cars already exist, nuclear energy have been viably safe for decades now. Once you got a nuclear grid providing most of the power, build shittons of solar and wind farms, and you're good. No reason not to switch at this point.

Then let the sand niggers die from war and famine. Send whitey to Mars and Venus, and populate the solar system with the advent of Solar Sails and Pion Rockets.

We don't treat some of our population like altruist slaves just because they happened to be born smarter than everyone else. The average person has the capacity to create big changes as well, until the average person picks up the slack it's retarded to only hold a select few people responsible for carrying the burden for everyone, just because they would happen to be the best at it.
>>
>>345761548
>solving world hunger
The solution already exists, no government wants to put it forward however. Don't look towards scientists for this one.
>>
>>345762450
Overpopulation is a myth m8. We grow enough food to feed everyone in the world and then some, the problem is distribution, especially in the 3rd world.

>>
Guys, guys, quit jumping. You're gonna prolong the fire indefinitely.
>>
>>345762625
>It's a myth m8

Tell that to China and India.

I imagine if you live in the countryside and never travel, you'd never really get an appreciation for it, but an increase in population = an increase in need for energy, fresh water, crops, land, and most importantly, and increase in waste produced. The first two are already MAJOR problems as it is. Solve the hunger problem, and suddenly these people demand more water and energy, and produce more waste. And when the fastest growing segment of the population is made up of superstitious Muslims, well... desu, they can meet their untimely end for all I care. It's not my problem to solve, they should work it out and solve it themselves, if they can't, and die out in the process, then good.

Specifically, his secondary channel is way more active and imo way more interesting than his primary one, but I'm a huge computer science nerd so take that with a grain of salt. His primary one is where he uploads proper runs of different segments and stuff, and the secondary one is where he posts these in-depth analyses of Mario 64's mechanics. The one I posted in the OP is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeGNpeFOOCY

Even if you're not a computer nerd he's pretty down to earth with his explanations, if anything I'm just more impressed by it because I'm amazed he figured out all these internal mechanics on his own.

I don't know, but I could see something like that happening. Like, if you had a 2-byte (0-65535) value that incremented once every second, then every time it looped around it incremented another one once, and then you had to align those two variables to a specific value.

I don't know exactly what kind of scenario would bring that about but I could imagine some if I thought about it for a few minutes. Namely stuff that cycles through values like the game's RNG method.

back in elementary we had to write an essay and the topics was something like "what do you need to solve one of worlds problems (cancer, hunger etc)" and I chose AIDS. I didn't knew shit about aids other than it's a virus for gays. Also my uncle had lots of WWII books including books with holocaust pictures. I didn't understand it at that time and I thought Jews were infected people that had to be killed so I used that example in the essay.

Even without taking into account the limited nature of Mario 64's RNG, it's probably still way too fucking long. To make this image perfectly clear, that is a number of years starting with a 1 followed by 1101 zeroes to get 20 consecutive seconds of that cog staying still. If you filled up your room with copies of the universe itself's lifespan the size of a raisin, your room would not be a comfortable place to sleep in, if not literally swamped in them. Is there any reason for this platformer to be as complicated as it is? Are there similar simple games with not as simple mechanics behind them? Why?
>>
>>345776865
Everything the programming is doing in M64 makes sense--it makes sense for it to be that "complex". Games really are this complex because they are simulating a world and must keep track of all facets of said world.
>>
>>345776865
Every game is this complicated. He's just delving deeper than man was ever meant to delve. The vast majority of the shit he finds is unknown to the devs.
>>
>>345777119
>>345777035

For example. Why working with hexagramm number instead of this shit deal 1 heart damage and this 1 1/2. Why letting this heart spin amount x based on y instead of let it spin 25% faster if you are running close to it etc. I think it is more complicated than that programming its what it does. Ive seen rpgs less complex than that, or at least, they seemed less complex.
>>
>>345777119
Yeah this, its just that he's doing things that are not possible to be replicated by a human.

He uses a lot of variable overflows as well, this is something that could be abused in nearly any game. It's just that the variables are usually large enough its not possible to reach the overflow without emulator tools.

Modern games also have these sort of things its just with modern games there is much more room and the size of most variables will be MUCH higher and even more impractical to overflow. Emulation for the last console gen is also in its early stages and not possible at reasonable performance yet.
>>
>>345777470
Its hard to say really but you have to remember this game was very early in the days of 3D and one of the first major 3D platformers. Its just what the developers went with, could have it have been done different? Of course but this is what the devs chose and it works and in the end thats all that matters.

Pannekoek has changed my life. Now I try to save A presses in real life and sometimes I catch myself wondering if some corner in a building is a Pedro Spot. I also picture in my head my dog getting stuck in midair if I leave the room while he's jumping.
When I get up from bed in the morning I keep one of my legs raised until I have to go up a step so that I start the day with a half A press.

But it's not all fun and games, last week I refused to go to work because the elevator was out of order and taking the stairs for the 4th floor would have consumed way too many A presses, and I lost my job. Please send help.

and that's assuming it's RTA viable, which it very likely wouldn't be, seeing as they can't even do it with tool assistance yet.

There would more than likely other instances than TTC to use it.

Its not really looking good for the upwarp though at this point its speculated that environmental factors on the hardware caused a bit to change. Basically meaning it will be impossible to replicate.

older 3D games aren't as tightly constructed as modern ones, which is a big part of why a lot of this shit is possible.
>>
>>345778842
So what would happen if hypothetically, someone got a WR time because of a freak glitch like that? Would it still be seen as legitimate?

Or what if people were able to replicate/emulate the situation that would cause that glitch to happen and do it in emulators? Would TAS runs of the game be fucked forever?

Alright I see some of the issues. Like with HP, they could've just made it actually be how the bar represents it and round values, so that you have 9 HP and each enemy/type of fall/etc does a set amount of damage based on whether Mario has his hat or not without needing to have 65535 different values possible for his health.

With the spinning heart though I think the reason why they base it on other variables is to try to get the visual effects they wanted out of it rather than just "spinning 25% faster then Mario goes through it and then suddenly go back to normal"

Good question, it really depends on what the speedrunning community on SM64 would decide.

No TAS runs would just need re-routed to account for the glitch.

Except it's not, because Nuclear waste is dramatically reduced by modern breeder reactors which use 90% of the total fuel for reaction.

Not only that, but we just need to rely on fission till Fusion is viable, or until Solar is efficient enough for 100% dependence.

If all the major players in the world relied on fission for 70% of their energy needs, with renewables take that other 30%, most the world's ecological, geopolitical, and economic problems would be solved.

The only threat posed by fission reactors is that the waste can be refined into bomb material, but if the waste produced is contained, in high security waste disposal, then it's no longer an issue.

Especially since "long term" is a non factor as Fusion and Solar are on the horizon, with Antimatter close behind.

The world can sustain full nuclear dependence for 100 years, easy. Especially with breeder reactors, and with solar sharing some of the burden. What it can't sustain is more than a few more decades on fossil fuels.

People complain about waste cause they're literal mouth-breathing retards who listen to the mainstream rather than research about an issue themselves.

Nuclear gets a lot of hate because it's a dagger pointed at Big Oil, thus propaganda is spread to keep the moronic masses guzzling gas cause "muH nuclear is bad," when pretty much all criticism against it is easily debunked, and a full switch could be done NOW!

Mars is permaWinter, and unless you're augmented, its 1/3 Earth's gravity will literally kill you by turning your bones to glass. Not to mention the lack of atmosphere is a huge issue thanks to cosmic radiation and the like.

Venus has the benefit of having basically the same gravity as Earth, moreover, while the surface is unbelievably hot (uninhabitable actually), the intense pressure on the Venusian surface means building cities in the clouds is actually a lot easier than here on Earth. Like, "NASA is legit considering this option" easy. Plus, the pressure and temperature in the Venusian sky is also more similar to our own. You've also got a nice thick atmosphere to protect you from radiation. Only real downside is that you'd have Sulfuric rains, so you'd be confined to the indoors, buy you'd also be confined indoors on Mars till it was terraformed, so what does it matter then.

So, do you wanna live on what basically Antarctica with red soil, and shit gravity, or on mutherfukken CLOUD CITIES ON GODDAMN VENUS? The trip is a lot shorter too. And if someone is being a dick in the colony and doesn't wanna cooperate, well you throw them out and watch them implode before ever even hitting the ground.
