That's for us since the game is played by us, humans, not actual aliens.
Them looking different to other races is an idea planted for the player, world building. bioware was either lazy to reflect this universally for everything asari related or they wanted to keep it as mystery for the species to make them seem more interesting and decided that everything asari in the games is perceived by humans eyes only, statues and all. In a way this applies to almost all aliens human create, they are perceived by us which is why they always have some sort of human like feature, makes it relatable.
Look at salarians, turians, krogan, xenomorphs, twilek, predators, all have a human body with an weird head, usually inspired by an animal head.
I think there's a name for it but I remember reading about how we mostly think intelligent life can be taken seriously if they look somewhat like us, at least media wise.
