I think Yuria knew of Orbeck's past as an assassin and tried to manipulate you in getting rid of him, so that there would be nothing that could stand in your way.

I don't believe for a second her story about Orbeck wanting to be the Lord of Hollows. Nothing in his dialogue ever suggests as such. He was an assassin who left that life to pursue Sorcery.

Gwyn committed the first sin, which was linking the First Flame to the Dark Soul (Humanity), and thus causing humans to assume a shape which was not their true face. The "human" form which you see is actually an illusion, a transformation imposed upon humans by the linking of the fire. The curse of the Undead is a byproduct of the flame being linked to humans and the Dark Soul fighting back when the flame starts to fade. Dark Souls lore is definitely more diverse, but it's gotten too big and inconsistent to stand tall at this point. Dark Souls 1 lore on its own is just as good as Bloodborne's though.
