Pretty fun game but the difficulty is too tied to weapons, it's super easy if they are upgraded. Struggled a lot more with bosses before I upgraded my spear.

Finally getting through all of the Chalice Dungeons and I'm loving the difficulty. Currently up against Ebrietas. It's funny, I beat her my first try on NG+ with this character, but the Chalice version is giving me more trouble.

I hated that. Jesus fuck my heart rate was through the roof during the try where I actually beat him.

It's simple on the surface but if you can't dodge his shit it's horrible. You're supposed to get up close to whichever end of him is lowest to the ground. While you do that he'll summon like piles of bones to fall on you. So you gotta hit and run a lot. If you get too far he shoots things at you. He'll also summon some like poison water to fill the arena floor. That's easy to dodge though just go behind the pillars. Careful though because while that's happening he'll try and shoot you. The last thing you wanna watch out for is his explosion thing. He summons a red energy ball above him. It won't shoot or drop things on you this one just expands. Easy to dodge and read but hardest to read IMO

The problem is the first time I fought the normal one I just cheesed him with Ludwig's/LongAxe (on my first playthrough) by out reaching his attacks. So it was way easier.

Amygdala gave me way too much trouble because my only weapon that could reach its arms effectively was my Burial Blade+6, so I was only doing ~300 per hit. At least Amy has really easy to abuse AI. Darkbeast Paarl just kicked my ass for the third time, but I recently found out you're supposed to roll INTO his swipes so I should be good now. Trying to kill Martyr Logarius at level 35, second character with SRONK weapons and it's not been going great.

This is the first time I've ever actually rung the beckoning bell and no one is fucking joining. Which is shitty because I've helped at least 10 other people beat this boss on my last character (and helped dozens more beat other bosses) so I feel like karmicly I've earned some damn help.

But naw it's been 30 minutes now and fucking nothing. But I can get summoned in a minute or less.

I have tried so fucking hard to get rid of the bitch too, but it's simply unparalleled in scaling. I went with STR and Bloodtinge like a retard at first, but then put some points into Arcane. This fucking sword scales better than Logarius' Wheel due to the fact that it takes skill and Arcane into account. Soft capped strenght? Fuck it, skill gives it 8 damage per point up to 25, then it soft-caps for the sword.

Plus the damn thing has a solid as fuck moveset. It has no weaknesses and it's a rape machine in PVP with that Arcane enchantment on it.

He's one of the easiest bosses, you really only need to watch out for his puddle of acid spit which drains your health SUPER FAST, and the "hitbox" lingers on for a few seconds even after you step out of the puddle, which is bullshit, it's the only real way you can die fightning this easy peasy boss.

He also occasionally summons a barrage of corpses to fall on your head, but a single drop does not really hurt a lot, but he will chain them like 3 or 4 times, so generally after you get hit by the first you have enough time to just dash in a random direction and you won't be hit by the subsequent ones.

also, heavy story spoilers: I just realized the guy sitting on the chair after this boss is Micolash's dead body, and he is only really alive on his nightmare dimension, he is kept alive by the mensis cage and it's interaction with dreams, when you kill him in the dream he "wakes up" in the real wrorld, but since in the real world he is a faggot mummy, he ded.

There's a small circle surrouding the overall area, run around it's edge, it's too dangerous to try hitting the clone.

You could always try summoning, there's no real shame in that, you still get rekt if you don't learn her, she is a very "I HOPE YOU LEARNED THIS GAME FAGGOT".

If it makes you feel better, i felt her fight was harder than the final boss, but don't be let down by it, Final Boss is easily the best in all souls games.

I went with 75 at first to be in range. Had no luck in co-op or anything. Barely got invaded in NF and decided to go up. At around 100-115 I got invaded constantly at Cathredal Ward.

Then I went to 125 and I get an invader or two at Nightmare Fields.

That weapon is the be all end all. People call it the meme weapon for some amazingly retarded reason. But there's no better option for Str characters, or even mixes builds.

I have rarely encountered other players with it on PvP. Most fuckers go Chikage, Blades of Mercy or Threaded Cane. All inferior in speed and range to Ludwig's.

Just beat Rom and holy shit is this game spooking the shit out of me. I never asked for this straight out of lovecraft shit. I already had problems dealing with that one big bug thing in bygenworth.

How the fuck do you justify an enemy that has 3k health, hits harder than most enemies in their area, has infinite ammunition, and is allowed to fucking heal?

If they fight like hunters, heal like hunters, and riposte like hunters, they should at very least have comparable health. It should be like fighting an NPC black phantom in Souls, not fighting a fucking Drakekeeper with longer aggro range and more health.

I parried him once but he parried me at the same time so I lost the animation plus attack

Head down to the swamp area and go to the right wall and go into a cave, moving up you come to a hole where she stands.

When you set out to be summoned or summon someone else you spawn her and she begins to spawn invaders. The Nightmare frontier is a pvp hotspot.

Game is great but upper cathedral and mensis infuriated me. I never ran through a level until mensis, fuck that. Cool boss though, his room really didn't look like a boss room so I went in with three vials and died but he doesn't seem too hard.

in the first phase of his life he will telegraph his moves.

When he Flourishes his staff he will down on of two things he will stab it in the floor and make the spirit bomb of which you can run around for a backstab if you're close enough and react quick enough. The other one is when he swings forward and shotguns you, dodge to the left and swing some more.

When he does not flourish but rears his staff back that means he will spawn a floating skull and jump back, then the skull will explode OR he will just point black explode skull. Anticipation is key so always be ready to dodge back or to the side.

The last one he will bring his scythe out to your left and after a second swing at you for a physical. That is when you parry him.

A tip for you. In that area if you run down the hill and get to the swamp hug the swamp left side while using antidotes liberally you can make it through to the area with the short cut. Then the boss is literally an elevator a way.

That place has one boss who is optional and nobody likes that area anyway. So you best chance is to run it and fucking kill the boss quick.

Exactly, he is in a "Limbo" of sorts, because he is suck inside his own nightmare, but it's also his only way to stay alive because if he wakes up he is a mummy and instantly dead, i think the Mensis Cage keeps you alive in your dream after you die.

He probably sacrificed himself so Mergo could be born in his Nightmare, and it seems like many subjects came before him but he was the first to succeed in building a dream stable enough for the birth of a new Great One.

When you kill him in the dream, he goes back to the real world, and instantly dies because mummy.

No, if you die in the dream you wake up. Micolash wakes up in a dead body, so he ded. You only die for real if you can no longer dream, and it seems like the Mensis Cage is what normal men like Micolash use to dream, but since you take him out of it he ded for sure.

You are in a deep sleep along with others and the place you are fighting in isn't the true reality but it fits enough that those who go through it deem it as reality.

Only great beasts and those who reside outside of the dream can truly leave. When killed. This goes for the hunters you encounter like Djura and Eileen. And those whose bodies have long since withered away.like Micolash and Gehrman.

It becomes hard to separate the dream from the reality especially when you don't exactly know how you got there. But in the end Gehrman offers you a way out.

My interpretation is that every Hunter who actively participates on the Hunt is in the Hunter's Dream, only their own version of it. Look at the Hunter's Dream, there are a bunch of giant rock pillars in the distance. I think those are other Hunter's Dreams, where in each a Hunter is assigned, and Gherman watches and guides them all since Gherman is the Host of the Nightmare just like Micolash is the host of Nightmare of Mensis, that's why when you kill Gherman the Moon Presence makes you take his place; Now you are the host.

If a Hunter forfeits his cause, he stops dreaming and can no longer access the Hunter's Dream. Eileen became a Hunter of Hunters and as such is not contributing to end the source of the beasts, so she serves the Moon Presence no purpose, Djura forfeited hunting beasts altogether so he also can no longer dream, Alfred became obsessed with the Vilebloods and as such doesn't hunt anything but them, that's why he suicides, Gascoigne and Henryk became "blood-addled", so they succumbed to the beasthood, and so on.

Gherman offers you to resign of the Hunter duty. You will wake up as Yaharnam finally sees the daylight and you will be able to do anything you want, and you are probably cured of that disease your character is supposedly affected with. The next Night of the Hunt, you won't need to hunt a thing, you might even not be in Yaharnam, but if you wish to be you will be like Eileen or Alfred, you will bue mortal and die, no longer accessing the Hunter's Dream, unless you take another transfusion done by that spooky fellow at the beginning of the game.

Gherman is basically trying to help you out the only way he thinks is possible, possibly because he tried fightning the Moon Presence once and he got crippled and dominated by it(just like what happens to you in case you don't eat the chords), so he thinks no one is stronger than him in order to kill that thing.

I've had that happen before and it's bullshit. Your blood stain was picked up by some enemy but something happened, it glitched out, and now it belongs to an enemy that isn't there / doesn't exist / some dumb thing like that. You can't get your echoes back from it because there's nothing to kill that will get it back.

I've heard if you quit the game, come back and go to the Lecture Building your bloodstain will be there somewhere, though. I haven't verified this myself, though.

It's a relatively common bug related to enemies that don't respawn. The games pathing thinks the enemy is still there, so it had the nonexistent enemy absorb your echoes.

Can someone explain to me what exactly Vileblood covenant is for? I got the rune from queen yesterday, but didnt equip it yet, since it cant be removed, so I would be stuck in that specific covenant.

I mean if I equip the rune and ring small resonant bell do I go to other peoples worls as a co-operator or invader?

A hunter must hunt. It's all very subtle in the scheme of things sending you to find a chalice so you can see what the beast plague had wrought. You become more and more invested in "What's all this fucked shit about" that you're actively trying to see what you can do to help. You descend the Heal Church's work shop and the find the first workshop and some notes about the nightmare and stuff.

Just run up form the middle loft, passed the three shadows, Buttstab the pick to death, aggro the next two and make them attack the four shadows. 50k when they kill each other and you pick off the stragglers.

If the Hunter that you rang the bell for is an Executioner, you will appear as a purple Phantom and be hostile, and the same goes for an Executioner joining a Vileblood world. No one seems to know what makes one Blood-Addled in order for them to be hunted by Hunters of hunters yet.

Yeah much like the first Dark Souls the endgame is shit, Yahar'gul is horrible and so is Nightmare of Mensis's lower part, although the upper part with the Shadows of Yharnam look-alikes is pretty decent, then it becomes shit again with the mother brain bullshit.

Yahar'gul is the low point of the game, definetely, at least the boss is a cakewalk and the walkback to it is almost non existant when you learn of the elevator/bath tub shortcuts.

Also, Cainhurst is too small, thought it would have lasted more but you can reach Logarius in like 10 minutes, at least it's good quality and the boss, although hard, is fun and one of the most well made ones.

Catacombs is actually a fitting annalogy, it just simply sucks, but all they needed to do to fix this area would be to remove the infinitely spawning motherfuckers or at least make the bell-maidens stay dead much like necromancers in Dark Souls, in my second playtrhough instead of exploring i just went straight to the elevator shortcut as soon as i could, fuck that shit.

Alright so I need help understanding chalice dungeons. I have pretty much beaten the game without actually beating it. Ive killed every boss and cleared every area. Im at Gherman but dont want to initiate the fight because I know the game will end if i do.

now I started and completed two chalice dungeons. I have three golden chalice cups that i can use. They all start with pthu... something something. The first one I did had me kill an undead giant as the last boss. The second one i did had me kill a big fire dog.

but thats it. How do I get other chalice cups? I cant seem to find harder dungeons to explore. I have two more cups that I cant use at all. One looks like a rotten apple and another like a skull but the items required to start those rituals Ive never even seen before. One of those cups requires like 50 arcane something parts when I've never even seen one. Im seriously confused. There is literally nothing else for me to do in story mode. I know there is shit im missing out on in the chalice zones which is why I don't want to fight Gherman yet. How do I access these fucking Dungeons.
