...And ignorant people said that Nintendo isn't friendly with indie developers and that indie games don't sell on Wii U... lol

>he posts this on the day that Unreal 4 went free

kek

You picked a really bad time to dig up Unity crap, fellow. Go look at /vg/agdg or /agdg/ for confirmation.
>>
>>285350497

Is U4 completely free or is it that deal where they take a cut of every game you sell?
>>
>>285349472
If indies are absolutely forced to choose a console, yeah, Nintendo's probably best.

But why do that when PC exists?
>>
>>285352020
Indie games usually dont go on sales as much as steam and some people buy literally everything on the wii u eshop for no reason really
I only buy indie multiplats on pc though because literally no point on wii u
>>
>>285352020

According to several indies PSN is the best and XBLA is the worst, with Nintendo inbetween.

>If indies are absolutely forced to choose a console, yeah, Nintendo's probably best.
What? Nintendo consoles these days have very attachment rates for third party games. A nintendo console is probably the worst choice for indie devs because nobody on the WiiU cares about third parties.

PS4 or Xbone are better for indie since people with those console actually play more than first party games

I think that really depends on who you ask. If you ask devs like Dennaton or Team Meat, they'd say Sony. If you ask WayForward or Yacht Club, they'd say Nintendo.

The key lies in content. Nintendo is much more reluctant to allow violent content on the eShop, as we've already seen. Sony doesn't care.
>>
Their Unity for Wii U package is a clusterfuck and their javascript shit is even worse with a bug list a mile long.

Their devkits aren't cheap either ($2k/$3k depending on the model), but no idea how that compares to PS4/Xbone devkit prices.

>tfw no one says Microsoft and Indies rarely release more than one exclusive on Xbox live

What the fuck are MS doing to indies to put them off?
>>
>>285352749
WayForward and NotWayForward are Nintendo shills. They said it themselves that the reason they put their games there is because Nintendo treats them well and give a lot of free publicity.

Most of the not completely garbage indies are working with Steam/PSN, they are allegedly the easiest to work with. I think it's weird that XBLA is ranked worst than Nintendo, but that Dan Adelman dude helped change things when he was working there.
>>
>>285353458
A few years ago, Microsoft released an update to the Xbox360's menu that basically hid indie games in a dusty corner and made them really hard to find. This turned a lot of devs off, naturally.
>>
>>285351904
Unity does that too
>>
>>285352749
Nintendo doesn't disallow violent games at all. They pushed MadWorld. It's more that people don't expect violent games to sell well on Nintendo so they don't bother porting them.
>>
>>285353458

According to the BOI dev, MS takes a lot of time to get applications reviewed. Devs also complained about MS policies regarding patching your games. And it seems MS has the highest licensing fees of all three now (they require an unreasonable amount of sales before they start giving you cash).
>>
>>285353621
Not to mention a handful of indies who developed for MS got their paychecks severely delayed.

It's like the division got sent to the basement Milton-style.
>>
>>285353568
>They said it themselves that the reason they put their games there is because Nintendo treats them well and give a lot of free publicity.
That's not what being a shill is. That's explaining how they've been easy to work with.
>>
>>285353872
Nintendo explicitly said no to Binding of Isaac on 3DS at one point, thought that may have actually been for the religious themes, now that I think about it.

I just want portable Hotline Miami without having to buy a Vita.
>>
>>285353458
When you put a game on XBlive, apparently you can't update it without paying out the arse

>>285353568
> They said it themselves that the reason they put their games there is because Nintendo treats them well and give a lot of free publicity
When'd they say that?
>>
>>285354069
Yeah it was for the real-world religion imagery. Apparently that's something they disallow.
>>
>>285353982
Also, not that related, but if your game is multiplatform and you enter a contract late in development, you're not allowed to release it unless either 1) all versions are released at once or 2) it's released on Xbox first

Because of this and Ubisoft being knobs, they basically killed the Wii Us launch window
>>
>>285354171

It was on an interview months back, can't find it now. But they did say it.

They aren't exactly wrong in this, Nintendo gives them a lot of storefront space that they don't give to any other indie.
>>
>>285354436
Wait, this interview http://nintendoeverything.com/wayforward-on-supporting-nintendo-platforms/ ?

Sounds like Nintendo moneyhat them

It was fucking shitty how Rayman Legends' release was handled, but one game delay doesn't kill the whole launch window.

The E3 Treehouse treatment made Shovel Knight look like a million bucks.
