This is basically a sports manga.

Vivid is mainly a SoL sport manga. The characters train, enter a tournament, meet and befriend their rivals, find out what their weak points are and try to fix them, work hard to help each other become stronger, improve their team work, etc. The drama stuffs are just icing on the cake.
Something like dangerous lost logias and/or crazy scientists probably will never show up in Vivid because saving the world is not what this manga is about. Realistically speaking, both Vivio and Einhart are still far too weak to tackle something on the scale of what Nanoha and Fate did back in S1 and A's. They are getting stronger, sure, but it will take them, especially Vivio, at least another 3 or 4 years to be on the same level as the Riot 6. And as of Vivid chapter 89, not even a year has passed inuniverse.
Einhart and Vivio will maybe fighting evils someday in some other sequel with timeskip, they will not do so in Vivid manga.

I do agree that I would like it to have a real story, but maybe that's what they are trying to do. The main characters in this don't seem to have lives as stable as Vivio and crew.
I am being cautiously optimistic because, even though I know it might not deliver any kind of story, I would much rather it at least delivered a decent sports story if nothing else.

If they wanted, it would be the easiest thing to come with some pretext or asspull to handle that problem. Actual story not happening is not because the authors can't, it's because they don't want to.

I liked the Vivid story (anime and manga) as much as the other Nanoha series (not counting Fusion or whatever it was called - which I pretend doesn't exist).

So lets speculate about the show based on the PV video, and what the site says. My guess at the story is: Brown haired girl protects blonde girl when they are young...love her kicking the guy in the balls. She swears an oath to always protect the blond girl. She gets fed up with guys/men and bullies, and goes out and picks fights with guys and gangs. The police come during the gang fight, and end up arresting her. She gets put under the guardianship of the red headed older girl (one of Hyate's clan?), and gets pulled into the world of magical martial arts that Vivio, Einhart, Muria, and the others are involved in. That is the story that plays out in my mind after having watched the PV. What do /u/ think?

The U15 stuffs right now are being treated in the background as but a mere stepstone for Einhart to get to where Seig is while the one-off fight between Vivio and Miura got the spot light.

BTW I think that if Nanoha was written in this hardcore style, I'd say that Volken Ritters would stay dead in As. Vita would be killed in StrikerS if she miraculously survived that, as would some of the forwards. I think they would kill Fate in StrikerS, if she didn't die in S1 (in Garden of Time, recall that cliffhanger at end of ep12 after which it takes a while for her to be confirmed alive in ep13?).

Nanoha might die on Vivio in Vivid or Force if those were still made.

What makes you so sure? If that were the case I wouldn't expect it to carry the name Nanoha. Given history its more likely to be a summarized StrikerS movie.
From the name "Reflection" its possible we'll get oposite world versions of Nanoha and the others. Similar to some of the the Nanoha Innocence manga characters.


I just finished watching the [Merchant] version of episode 1 (patched to v2), and quite enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to watching more episodes. I suspect (like a lot of you probably do) that it will be revealed that Rinne is seeking to be the strongest, so that she could protect and prevent Fu-chan and anyone else she cares about from getting beat up by anyone in the future.

I wonder if we'll find out who adopted Rinne, and if we'll know that person, and be surprised by the reveal. I'm thinking the Thunder Emperor might be a possibility.

Strike did skip a few things but if you are up to date with Vivid manga then these developments won't seem strange at all. Vivid manga is still behind in the timeline but the groundwork for all these changes have already been laid out.

Vivid never has a proper storyline to be changed, though. As for people's goals and personalities, Vivio has laways wanted to defeat Nanoha since the beginning, Einhart got softer since chapter 63 which is more than 2 years ago and the trigger for that change to occur was handled pretty well. The part of her wanting to get on top of the world doesn't change at all, though. She just has a more specific goal now that she knows what she has to do to get there.
The only questionable developments is whatever the hell is going on between Vivio, Einhart and Yumina, and why the hell Einhart feels the need to teach Fuuka.

If they had kept the Vivio anime running then we could have been prepared for the big changes, and they would have seemed smoother. (Since many of us haven't been able to keep up with the manga with its sporadic updates.) I don't mind the events as they are all believable events When Einhart wins the U15 that brings publicity, and with that comes sponsors and advertising dollars for both her and her coach, so everything is completely believable. I'm a little surprised Fu hasn't heard of Einhart before now.
I'm looking forward to future episodes. I have a feeling before too long I'll start to feel like I wish the episodes were longer because I'll be eager to see "what's next".
