Thank you, my beloved Ringo.

Just completed Spring. This game is like Kara no Shoujo + Marimite + White Album 2 rolled into one. Absolutely loved it.
I was disappointed to learn that Suoh and Rikka are relegated to side characters in the next 2 volumes. Do they still play significant roles in subsequent plots?
>>2142814
Do you not love Erika, Mayuri and Yuzuriha?
>>2142820
I love the others as well, just that I have gotten especially attached to Suoh.

Uh, I sure hope JAST doesn't take a year to bring Summer.
6 months would be ideal; I'd throw money at them.
This feels just right.
Can someone summarize me aboutthe rapunzel story telling in natsu hen and why is Erika cryingas text hooker cannot grab that part
>>2144542
Summer in the second year (supposedly), one day, Mayuri comes to Erika's room to give her birthday gift. Erika says she hates Mayuri because Mayuri broke Suou's heart and warns Mayuri to never abruptly disappear again since Erika can't watch Suou suffering one more time. Mayuri, in contrast, tell Erika that she's grateful for the fact that Erika'd been looking out for Suou the whole time Mayuri wasn't there. Mayuri's hand makes Erika blush. Later, when Mayuri leaves, Chidori comes back to the room and they eat the birthday cookies.
Fell pretty short compared to the dream of Mayuri fanfic.
>>2144615
Wait for me if you can until I come across that part.
>>2144615Suoh had written the story such that the witch ends up worried about she had done, feeling guilty to have taken Rapunzel. When the prince comes, Rapunzel won't leave with him without the witch. Having heard that, the witch chooses to feign anger to chase Rapunzel away with the prince. But Rapunzel and the prince eventually come back, along with her parents, to ask the witch to live together with them, telling her they forgive her and consider her family.Erika cries because she's has immersed herself in the emotions of Rapunzel and realizes that Suoh has written her idealized version of the story, with Rapunzel being Suoh, and the prince and witch representing Rikka and Mayuri.

Try using ctrl+s to create spoiler tags
>Did you get it backwards?
No.I'm pretty sure it's the witch that represents Mayuri. It's about her isolating herself to leave the other two together, thinking that's best for Rapunzel, but Rapunzel wants to have her back in life.
>>2144689
Watch Utena, it's basically the same thing, with the witch beingAnthyand the prince beingAkio
At least that's how I saw that, when reading through Natsu.
>>2144689
He's just the 3rd character in the triangle. Suoh's version of the story is more about the witch.
Help! Dose anyone know how to fix this? Looks like a font issue.
>>2144804
Didn't people say this happened to the pirated version of the game?
>>2144827
Well it seems it can happen to the Steam version also.
>>2144853
It should be a missing font, but the font should have come with the game. There is a comment in the previous thread saying to run (the path to you SteamLibrary)\SteamApps\common\Flowers -Le volume sur printemps-\script\setup.exe
>>2144879
Yes, I did that several times. No change.
>>2144880
I don't think I can help you with that, you can try contacting Steam support through the support link in your library, but I'm not sure how helpful that would be.

Are there other archives that I need to be aware of? (Already read the two last ones.)
Why did Suou say Nerine was Mayuri?
>>2146190
Because all the main love interests in each game were Mayuri. Nerine and Chidori are Mayuri in disguise. After getting in touch with her sexuality Mayuri went wild and decided to play the field with different best girls at her school before settling down with Suou.
>>2146283
>Mayuri went wild and decided to play the field with different best girls
What do you mean by this? Hasn't Suou been her first and only the whole time?
>>2146474
he's joking, duh
>>2146474
>>2146476
No, Mayuri is a shapeshifter - one of the seven mysteries of the school. Suou's purity was not enough for her, so she became Chidori in the second game, and Nerine in the third. I also feel like she may have took on Katabami's form sometime in the past, which explains whyDahlia has some sort of favoritism reserved for Mayuri and wishes to keep her hidden, as seen in the second game in the hookman case.
>三角関係の、悲恋のもつれから命を絶った少女。死してはいないが、消えてしまった匂坂マユリを連想させた

I just started playing this and got to the first reasoning where I found myself lost.
Seriously, the first question was the only thing reasonable but the rest got my head spinning
How was Suou's name hidden in Gospel of Judas?
How was the name Erika connected to Wuthering Heights?
This was probably discussed already but I am too lazy to check the archive.
>>2148595
It makes more sense in Japanese, but it's not that hard to figure out on your own given the few possible options. If you want the right choices there is a guide on Steam with all the routes.
>>2148600
I already did. It just did not make any sense...plot-wise, at least.
I did not expect it to be just some Japanese wordplay. I was expecting some sinister clues hidden within the walls as it was VN made by horror mystery makers.
But oh well
>>2148602
From the script writer herself:
>シナリオがどう訳されているのか愉しみです。
Basically she wonders how the visual novel(s) was/will be translated.>Japanese wordplay and various other subtleties.
By the way, Ete translation inevitably will be a failure regarding to the untranslatableness of Japanese masculine/feminine speech. So be prepared for that as well.
>>2148677
I remember that one having a bunch of awful puns too. Fun stuff.
>>2148595
The name Suoh is written literally as Sappanwood/Judas tree in Japanese version, so that's likely pretty easy for Japanese players. Once you figure out either Rikka or Mayuri name, it becomes obvious.
Erika was a bit of a stretch, because the other 3 names were associated with the book titles. But Erika name was associated with the main character instead. Though, in English version, there is only one name out of 4 that could be a JP name.
>>2148677
>inevitably will be a failure regarding to the untranslatableness of Japanese masculine/feminine speech
It won't be the same, but any competent translator will still be able to convey, for example,Erika practicing
Just realize Suou has the habit of saying 「

I guess I'm not the only one who all but forgot about Mayuri after Summer.
>>2142853
Where did you find that fanfiction?
I've only played Printemps so far but anyone else felt the writing and characters were kind of bland? Or maybe they just don't do it for me. Everything else was so gorgeous. I felt it got dull halfway through. How are the second and third game in comparison? Also what the fuck was Rikka's problem. Coming from an abusive household herself she could empathize with Suoh's own experiences, no?
>>2149797
For me, I thought it was a fairly realistic portrayal of 14 to ~18 year old girls in a formal setting. The characters do not have exaggerated traits like most do in other anime, manga, VNs and so on.
Suou is incredibly humble, sheltered and at first, antisocial and riddled with anxiety. Her growth in the story is the main focus of the game, and I think it was portrayed rather beautifully. Parallel to a tree, like her name suggests, she is tall and grows rather quickly and she is well on her way to becoming an independent and refined young lady.
Rikka is outwardly dependable, motherly and responsible. However, she is also very quick to act on her feelings, which is what makes me think she is still a bit immature. She desires acceptance, but is unable to give any out. Perhaps she has a thing for power given her class rep status, her motherly aura, the tea parties she hosts, the no-give-all-take when it comes to acceptance, and the fact that all of the choices leading to Rikka's route do not allow Suou to become a stronger and braver version of herself.
I have never read the book that is supposed to be related to her name, but Rikka's family situation may or may not allude to the book's title. Who knows?
Finally, Mayuri is the headstrong, thoughtful, hardworking, independent and albeit a bit rough, the most ideal girl in the class. However, in the end, she is just a normal girl. She gets jealous easily, she is lustful like other girls her age and her feelings confuse her or often get the better of her, despite her knowing better. At first, I thought Mayuri was a bit bland, but I came to realize that as the game progressed to the true end, we would see more of her. The reason for this is all because of Suou's pursuit for Mayuri. As Suou made more progress in her route, she would spend more time with Mayuri and learn more about her.
I wonder if/how her name is related to Mary Magdalene though.
>>2149797
There are certain parts like the welcome ceremony or the school tour, which I found incredibly boring, as I don't care about ballet, utensils or tea leaves.
Characters I do like. The weakest ones were the twins, but even they go through some significant character development. That said, my favorite light novels are Maria sama ga Miteru, where no one has special powers or excessively weird traits.
Spring, unfortunately for being the first game, has to spend a good amount of time to lay out the settings and introduce most characters. The studio also improved upon the feedback they received, so the second and third game have quite a leg up on Spring.
>>2149797
As for Rikka, as I recalled from what she described, she was always being overshadowed by her brother, and not much more info than that. I didn't get the impression of her household being particularly abusive to her though?
The way I see it,Rikka liked Suoh for being beautiful, smart, kind, good at the piano, etc. In comparison, Mayuri started to warm up to Suoh when she found out that Suoh has some wound/weakness.
Of course, I believe Rikka has also learned to like Suoh for who she is. But at that particular moment, Mayuri was the one who understood and accepted Suoh.
Help a sister out. I just bought the game and started it and I've been paired up with Rikka even though I wanted Mayuri! What's going on? Did I choose wrong or is Rikka's route obligatory as a first or something?
>>2149909
Suoh explains how the book titles are supposed to be related to the character names at the tea party. Do the explanations not make sense in the translation?
>>2149965
You haven't been paired with Rikka, just keep playing. You can't even get Rikka's ending the first time through.
>>2149965
Keep going, sister. You are not doing anything wrong.
>>2149967
Not that anon. I thought it was pretty clear in English version.Suoh said along the line that Lily is the symbol of Virgin Mary. She also did comment that strictly speaking, Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene are two different people.
>>2149982
May Maria-sama watch over you. And be careful of spoilers.
>>2149982prepare to get NTR'ed
>>2149986
>>2149967
No, that wasn't what I was trying to refer to. The tea party only relates the book names to the character's names, but what I wanted to do was to TRY and draw a connection between the book titles and the characters themselves.Suou's book title is The Judas Tree, and I personally believe that her growth throughout the game much like how a plant, or this case, a Judas tree grows.
Rikka's book title is Finding Your Family Crest (Kamon o Saguru wa no Design). I've never read it, so it's kind of a huge stretch, but perhaps it might be related to how Rikka tries to find her way and fit in with her family or whatever. It's late here so I'm just mostly incoherent at this point.
Finally, I have no idea how The Life of Mary Magdalene might relate to Mayuri, which is what I said before.
>>2150024
The character names have significance in flower language. I think you'd be reading too much into it to find further significance in the books.
>>2150004
What the fuck. I don't want this.
>>2150024
>Suou's book title is The Judas Tree
It was the Gospel of Judas.
The connection from Judas to her name was that the Japanese name for Judas tree is roughly "western-flower-suoh". "Suoh" itself is sappanwood, not really a particularly closely related species.
>and I personally believe that her growth throughout the game much like how a plant, or this case, a Judas tree grows.
All the characters have plant related names.
Chidori
So I played Natsu-hen's Extra last night.Suoh has grown so much I had tears in my eyes.
>Knows the truth about the missing baby rabbits, but realizing Erika's good will, pretends not to.
>Got really upset that she screamed in her head at Dahlia for telling her to forget about Mayuri and that Mayuri also wished it. (Not cool,
>Her tremendous efforts to find out the reason of Mayuri's disappearance. (She ought to learn how to pick lock from Erika)
She's still the same soft-spoken and gentle Suoh, but gods, didn't she totally become a badass.
on final chapter now.i don't want it to end
was it just me or this is too bright?

>>2150092
>"Suoh" itself is sappanwood, not really a particularly closely related species.
Just want to explain this a bit more:
蘇芳 (suō) is the Japanese name of a tree species, Caesalpinia sappan, aka sappanwood
The color of a dye made from sappanwood is called 蘇芳色 (suōiro, 色 = color)
From that color comes the Japanese name, 花蘇芳 (hanazuō, 花 = flower), for the genus Cercis, because of the color of its flowers
Judas tree is Cercis siliquastrum and its Japanese name is 西洋花蘇芳 (seiyōhanazuō, 西洋 = western)
Although Suoh's name is 蘇芳, it's 花蘇芳 rather than 蘇芳 that's taken as symbolizing her
>>2150578
In Japanese it's kind of dodgy that Suoh basically says:
>For the flower of my name Suoh, the western species is called Judas tree.
But I suppose her name is more associated with the color and the color is more associated the flowers of that color, so it's easy to overlook that it's actually the name of a different type of tree.
The English translation makes it worse:
>As Suoh, my namesake flower is the Sappanwood, also called the Judas Tree.
There's no obvious connection in English between the two.
i'm just wondering, how do they watch movies at a boarding school?
>>2150696
Ringo (or Ichigo - my memory is sorta blurry) and Yuzuriha were sitting in 視聴覚室 - the audiovisual room watching movies.

>>2150738

>because at age of 14 seems too young to do it
Really?
>>2150739
>Horny is a bit far-fetched but still...
In the bathroom scene with Mayuri she spaced out thinking about wanting to ravish her right then and there.
>>2150745
It's true, but with the exception of
>And yet she gets horny like a boy every time a cute girl touches her or undresses in front of her.
>>2150753
>depending where you live (age of consent), because you could get arrested.
I don't think it'd matter as long as there's none of people over 18 involved with them.
i hope JAST step up their translation and QC for the next release. this is maybe the third time i saw the same mistake.
>>2150759
I response the same as Suou when I'm approached by girls but it doesn't mean I'm getting horny.

I remember Suou once said that complain wouldn't solve anything.I'm here, Suou. In the meantime, don't fall for Rikka under any circumstances.
is it possible to unlock music, voice and comic?

"Mayuri and Suou belong to each other" is the undeniably inalienable truth. Rikka can go fuck herself.

so at the end of volume 1, is Rikka back being a good girl?i just don't know because she is the one who reveal the public about the relationship between Souh and Mayuri.i was kinda shocked when she did that since she said otherwise when i said to her that i was in a relationship with mayuri.
fortunately all of my classmate, friends and senpai accept it.
>>2151081
It could be said that she came back clean, at least from Suou, Erika and Yuzuriha's perspectives. That said, since we don't have any insight into what she's thinking thus it's not possible to know whether or not she's doing something guilty or harmful toMayuri and/or Suou.
Let's not forget that the twin sisters have fooled us twice in the course of the games. Rikka is capable of this trick, too.
>>2151081
It's just my gut feelings telling me that Rikka is offputting somehow.I'm dying waiting for Fuyu-hen
>>2151081
She's not a good girl. She's the evil mastermind.

Logically and evidently speaking, it should beDalia-sensei's line instead.
>>2151096
If so then Rikka'sher evil sidekick or underling
>>2151099
But then it doesn't make sensewhy Yuzuriha decided to cover for "that person" given that Yuzuriha is not "that" close to both Dalia-sensei and Rikka
F-fine then
>>2151101
>Rikka daydreaming, have no basis in reality.
>>2151081
Honestly can you explain to me why you like Rikka?
I'm not saying she's utterly awful though I am definitely not fond of her. But she definitely doesn't deserve Suoh.To me, Rikka just lost me completely when she did the blackmail routine. No matter what and how you look at it, that's just a shitty thing to do. She got off the hook so easily too and never even apologized. Also, the way I see it, her feelings were shallow to the core. She had an ideal Suoh in mind and "loved" her for her aura of mysteriousness above anything else. And when Suoh came clean about her past, and that particular mystery was unreveled, Rikka's ideal image of Suoh shattered and immediately so did her feelings which means they were never feelings of love in the true sense of the word.
Whereas Mayuri accepted Suoh through and through, every single time, and came to love her for all that she is, in spite of any imperfections.
Another thing I've noticed is how choosing Mayuri is choosing to be a better version of yourself, the thing Suoh wanted the most. To change for the better. All the choices you make to get to Mayuri are also choices Suoh makes that help her change and gradually become the person she wants to be. Whereas when making the choices to get to Rikka, it's always choices that make Suoh stagnate and remain in the shadow of her past self.
That's one of the reasons why I love and prefer Mayuri. She brings out the best in Suoh.
Man, I hope they get their happy end after all... I want to see them happy and together so I can be at peace.

>Advocate for ErikaxSuou
A few weeks ago I decided to just go for it and try to play through the Summer volume, despite never trying to read a Japanese VN before (though I am decently learned in the language). I finally finished the prologue tonight, and I already have 380 words in the anki deck I started for it. I feel like I'm pulling out my hair when reading thisbut I'm loving every moment of it
>>2151160
>380 words in the anki deck
Strange. Anki and vocabulary drills and space repetition have never worked for me at all. The more I try to remember the word, the easier it becomes for me to forget that word. What I'm trying to say is the natural repetition (that's what's good about FLOWERS as there are 4 volumes in total) from the material itself is what makes learning stick.
>>2151165
Space repetition is a little strange for me, but I'm remembering around 75% of the words, and internalizing 25-50% of them. Seems to be helping out, but nothing helps as much as the context of actually reading it in the VN itself. I've been rereading sections to help cement in the words, and that's been super helpful for me.
>>2151165
I would suspect that if you're finding it hard to remember stuff in Anki (used alongside reading), then not really testing yourself just makes it easier to fool yourself about how much really sticks and allow you to excuse yourself from making the effort to use Anki.

Coming right from localized Spring, and going straight into Natsu-hen, it's natural that Suoh is still my darling girl.I was unabashedly going kya-kya over her moments with Erika. It's no wonder that Chidori is jealous of Suoh.
Also, almost everyone says Suoh is "beautiful" in Spring, except Erika and Nerine. (Dahlia is excluded.) I don't know why I wanted to hear Erika's opinion, but I did.
So I was grinning when she did confirm that Suoh was beautiful and the people on the same level of beauty were ones such as Yatsushiro Yuzuriha and Komikado Nerine.
Oh, but I'm still for their rightful pairings all the way. And it's fucking 4:40AM because 4chan was down.

I don't remember Dalia saying she had read it. She tried to borrow the English version of Chronicles of Narnia though.
Mayuri was curious about Wuthering Heights (having spoken about it with Rikka and Suoh before) and noticed it was gone, but I'm not sure she had actually intended to read it.
Erika was the one had borrowed it.
