The anime writers seem to have a lot of fun pairing Yoshiko and Hanamaru together, almost to the point where it feels like they're backtracking a bit on RubyMaru. It doesn't help that it looks like Ruby will continue to be Dia's right-hand man in these remaining two episodes.

I noticed this too; Hanamaru and Yohane are the ones who have been having really nice back and forths, and a number of fun scenes and moments together.

On the other hand, we've had almost no Rubymaru development since the third or fourth episode when they joined Aquors and had the very obvious Rinpana parallels. After that, there was almost nothing between the two. Nothing obvious, anyway - just them sitting/running/being next to each other. Rubymaru was seen as pretty strong since the prerelease stuff was out, but maybe it's shakier than expected. I'm not too upset, though. Yohazura is nice.

I guess we'll see how things develop in these last two episodes, and in S2 (which we're certainly getting, I think). The remaining 5 non-paired members might be more thrown around, relationship wise, than expected

Minus their joining episode, when have they had any kind of real development? They're usually next to each other, sure, but there have been very few real scenes between them. There's just as much evidence of them being very good friends. Rinpana was much more "active" in that sense.

On the other hand, there's been a lot of small scenes between Yohane and Zuramaru, and they have a childhood friend connection. Not that that means much, considering You, but still.

At this point it's too early to call anything that isn't ChikaRiko or KanaMari.

And besides their friendship scene and the joining together scene, what have Ruby and Hanamaru had? In that sense there are clear parallels with Yohane and Hanamaru's friendship scene (in kindergarten) and Yohane's joining episode (and how Zura helped her/was supposed to "watch over her", etc).

There's been very little development for either Hanamaru ship. Unless we get something out of nowhere in these next 2 episodes, neither ships are close to being canon.

Many things have been introduced in the articles only to be forgotten in the anime or outright retcon'd.

One of the most disappointing thing about the anime is that we never saw the Dia v Chika challenge. According to Dia's profile, she only agreed to join if she lost a challenge to Chika and because they were holding Ruby hostage.

They probably do get together and come to an agreement on how the characters should be written and the plot itself but for everything else (relationships, hobbies, storylines) that's largely up to the whims of whichever individual is writing the drama cd/manga/anime etc.
