Eagerly awaiting the new anime. I hope they will have as much synergy and more as the previous cast had.

I am not looking forward to Brave Witches for two reasons.
1. The main appeal of these shows is seeing famous WW2 aces turned into gay little lesbians. Once the novelty wore off, you just had a very dull story in both S1 and S2.
2. That being said, the characters had good relationships especially the Brave Witches. So with that in mind, why did they add new characters? If the rule is the MC must be Nipponese than Brave Witches already had at least one of that.

This. It's the biggest thing that can make or break Brave Witches. I think it would be best if all the witches got their own focus episode with a main plot that gets developed in the background until we near the end where it becomes the main focus.

The worst would obviously be if the new MC hogs all the screentime and the characters we care about get nothing of worth.

Perrine was willing to throw away her life as soldier and followed Mio to Fuso to take care of her. If that's not a love I don't know what is. Her feelings is real and canon.

Also, in another 'what if' story Fumikane made -the one with Mio as focus character- Perrine is more mature and stronger than before, she can hide her emotions like Minna now. And even then when Mio mentioned that she visited Minna before coming to Galia, her facade cracks long enough for Mio to notice. Her feelings for Mio remain unchanged even in half-canon universe.

GuP ended 3 years as a show, not 6 like SW. The movie happened few months ago and was a massive hit while the fanbase is humongous, also new movie/season announcement happened week ago already. Those are the reasons they're so adamant of having them up, they do fill quickly too though but yeah. Generals should be regulated if not outright deleted already and justifying them is stupid but people just don't get it and want a chat room up when the contents of the threads are barely anime and manga discussing.
Of course the threads ride with /ak/ on it all the time, so it allows for other military related discussions as well as well publications happen at anytime.
Can't remember how many but I assume it was anywhere from 8 full threads and up, another thing I hope they'd do was lower the post count to 400 at least on /a/ as it is now it just favors generals.

That was quite telling. Interesting that It says Hikari Karibuchi has an older sister that it says she looks up to. Just when I started to wonder if we'd met the older sister somewhere along the line of the original Strike Witches I read about Takami Karibuchi. Wonder if they joined at the same time, or if Takami had been doing witching for awhile, and Hikari just joined. (That's what I'm guessing). We've got a confirmed lesbian since it says Waltrud Krupinski " is a hedonist that loves booze and women." Nikka Edvardine Katajainen AKA Nipa makes me think Wolverine with her healing factor (even though her animal is a snow weasel). Interesting that it states that Gundula Rall is "3rd in the world in terms of her actual abilities as a witch." Makes me wonder who the first two are. I'm guessing Yoshika Mifuji is the strongest (as far as magic abilities / witch powers go).

She was basically disguised and raised as a boy from childhood, because her family didn't want her to become a witch and have to fight. But things happened and she became a witch anyway. Bullshit. Fanservice was what I hated the most in SW and I was happy to see its low presence in BW. What BW lack is substance. Interpersonal bonding relies a lot on pacing and direction, not just throwing a checklist of events on the screen and call it a day.

Just take the latest ep for example, Sasha and Nipa interaction were so bland, not to mention the boring backstory. The idea was decent, but the poor execution made it tedious to watch. In contrast, this season's Flip Flappers ep 6 demonstrated how you can punch a hole in the audience's chest. That's how you tell an emotional story.

I know her from twitter and I know she's easily influenced by just talking to her about other characters and I am sure there's some really good witches that aren't in any Anime so I came here to ask if people got any recommendations about that

I don't actually really know much about the non-anime witches myself, I just think, since they're already in the anime we don't need even more of them.
Krupi and Nipa are both in the cast she seems to have decided on for now, with Rossmann and Aleks as their waifus, but psh, fampai, I know that list is not final.

The main problem is that there are very few translated materials outside the anime, so we don't really know much about most of them.
The Afrika manga were translated, so Marseille and her squadmates might be good choices. There's the Misfits, who are amusing and very overtly gay. Dom and Jane from the 504th, who are called a married couple.
There's also a bunch of characters from the 505 and 506 that look interesting, but there's not much translated material of them.

Only if you go by the anime itself, which generally isn't a good idea if you want to know more about the characters. Humikane has tweeted details like Nipa inadvertently making Sasha cry because her feelings go unnoticed.

He's even drawn pictures that imply it may not only be a sex thing, pic related.

The best thing is to watch all the SW anime, Operation Victory OVAs, movie, and delve into the wikis/archives for summations and Humikane's twitter stories.

I'm just gonna summarize what I know so far since her fics usually end up pretty big in their fandoms

It looks like this fic is supposed to take place around the caribbean confederation and their liberation from a massive neuroi nest that is full of humanoid neuroi like we saw in anime season 1.
There are 7 new fighter wings, all basically pilfered from other wings, to combat the spread of the humanoid neuroi, the 561, 562, etc, up to 567th
Each gets one pair of grand witches, which are basically yuri powered witches with much higher magic and the age restriction turned off but pretty steep requirements, and the 567th gets four grand witchi pairs
Krupi and Rossman, Nipa and Sasha, Lucchini and Shirley, Hikari and Kanno
Supposedly they live on an air craft carrier?

There's only one confirmed witch neuroi so far thanks to S1, past that it seems they're super rare and she might've been the only one of her kind in neuroi army. A nest full of them sounds hilarious to me.
All the big hives formed early into the war, with few ones popping mid-war, which BW season is based on timeline wise. The war reflects real life ww2 after all still. By BW season the humanity and witches are already gaining the upper hand and pushing the neuroi back till the eventual victory in 1945. Logically it doesn't make much sense at all for witches to reassign themselves anywhere from their corresponding units so late into the war.
But hey, it's fan fictions so everything goes. I just prefer to keep fan stuff closely to events that took place and add in-between stuff that might've happened we just don't know of, like nightly activities of 502nd witches.
Who knows, there hasn't been threads like that. I don't particularly care but I do like discussing things nonetheless.

There's no "science" behind it, just the assignment of stats to represent capacities (except APT is never qualified, what the fuck does "a measure of their natural born magical power" mean? How much they generate? If so, over what time is it generated? One day? One week?) and "the experiment does X". How it works is never explained.

And she really needs to learn to write better, the explanation of the mechanics is fucking atrocious. Here's a better way to explain the actual mechanics:

Also, the explanation for why they need to be partnered doesn't solve the "foreign magic rips apart the host" issue.

Magic Power is the same as Aptitude but in name.
The other stats are never relevant in the show so they're basically made up. That doesn't mean they don't make sense in context.

9 episodes in, Brave Witches really isn't as great as I hope so far.
I am glad they removed most of the crotch and boobie shots. Don't really care about the crappy CG. Don't mind that it's more serious....Maybe I do... Because they also minimalized the lesbian subtexts compare to the 501st series! It's like the pairings barely exist in the show!
Another problem I have with SilverLink is that everyone in Brave Witches have shiny AF hair and they're the ones that also did the OVAs. A great example is that you can compare Nipa's and Sasha's hair between OVA3 and Brave Witches.
