Either way, for the purposes of discussion, did anyone else get the feeling that Dia was waiting for Kanan in this scene? Kanan had mentioned earlier on that she runs here daily. If practice with Ruby and Hanamaru took place on a different day at the same time, then maybe Dia was expecting Kanan to be there or headed there.

This was the least enjoyable episode so far. Maybe it's because I was tired of the shoehorned drama.

Anyway, Hanamaru is a total qt. And Yohane next episode, finally.

On the one hand, I was glad at first that they didn't play like Muse was never a thing - that the anime didn't entirely forget its history.

On the other hand, Muse almost feels like they're looming behind Sunshine at every corner. References and call outs make sense, but it felt a bit odd to me that Rin, for example, was so important in this episode.

The two series shouldn't be entirely separate, but I'm worried whether or not Sunshine will continue to put itself in the shadow of the much-beloved first cast.

Why is it not Zenkai no Rabu Raibu Sunshine?

4 episodes in and I'm liking it so far. The characters are almost how I imagined them to be and once again there's a story to keep you hooked as you watch these girls rise to the top.

Regarding the main criticism that it's too similar to the original series, I agree to an extent. Just like S1, the group will be gathered one by one. Just like a typical idol anime, it's about a bunch of underdogs who no matter how likely are going to be at the top in the end. There might be a rival to defeat but in the end, they'll become the most popular School Idol/win the tournament/whatever.

But even though the storyline is the same, the motivation of the characters and their initial conflicts are enough to make it different. Take this episode. Whereas Rin has identity problems, Hanamaru is a bookworm bad at sports- the type who probably sat out most physical activities as she thought herself a burden. Consequently, she avoids any sports and almost didn't join Aqours upon finding out how demanding it would be.

My only worry is that by following the S1 structure is the pacing issues. At the rate it is going with members joining one or more at a time, we'll be spending too much time watching the group form up and eventually find ourselves with 3 episodes left for any other kind of story arc.

You're hilarious if you think the anime had in any way inspired the ship. Pixiv is no longer as indicative for fandom trends now that a lot of artists don't post there exclusively and/or use it as a dumping ground for their collated sets for sketches and doodles. Prior to episode 5 the shippers were (1) hoping Hanada wouldn't come up with some bullshit to deter or undermine the ship and (2) hoping for the two of them to have some kind of meaningful interaction.

While (1) kind of failed in that Yoshiko's characterization underwent such drastic revisions, at least the hopes in (2) did come true to a certain extent even if they mostly were involved with each other only during group scenes.

I don't understand people who make claims like this. If you started before July 4, didn't you play because you were interested in the characters?

Respective cards' stories aside, the main storyline itself develops the characters deeper because we get to see how they interact with each other, and what happens around them, in day-to-day situations. The unit dynamics in particular didn't get much coverage in the anime and voice dramas, but SIF delves into that theme several times. The µ's-adopt-a-cat and Mother's Day chapters also show aspects of the more private and personal sides to them.

Even the Aqours story, although chapters are coming out slowly, is of note in its way since it comes with the pretext that the group is already formed, so we can skip past the initial stages which the anime is still exploring.

Mari's funny intonation is what helped establish her "weird foreigner" image, though. If you listen to Suzuki talk in streams or on radio, while she can be excitable like Mari, her tone and pronunciation are no different from normal speech. Getting a "native English VA" defeats the purpose, and it would be unfair to Suzuki to let her character be voiced by somebody else. What is more likely to happen would be for her to receive some coaching from the members more fluent in English, or a professional tutor. If Nanjou was specifically instructed to not have to pronounce "harasho" like a native Russian, and Kusuda went for crash courses to work on Nozomi's English pronunciation, then there is little cause for a sound director to change what already was working.

That notwithstanding, it does bring to mind an interesting possibility. Remember the im@s collab at Anisama 2015? It was kept under wraps and nobody knew it would happen, until it did. Now that μ's supposedly will not be doing any more one-man lives, the only likely platform to see them as nine again is in large events together alongside other performers. What better choice is there compared to Anisama, where they got some of their biggest breaks and where the number of fans showing support for them increased year by year? And while Final Live was indubitably μ's' show and theirs alone; something like Anisama where collabs are not only the norm but also encouraged, not to mention a major attraction, would be a suitable event for μ's and Aqours to perform together.

Both casts already have had opportunities to interact. Going off the latest G's interviews with the Aqours second-years, they have a lot of admiration for their predecessors. Not just the characters, but the cast members themselves. Several μ's members have also acknowledged them in some roundabout or direct form, the latest being Shikaco.

And let's be real, if a collab really does take place, the BTS on the BDs is sure to have many emotional moments when the groups meet in this capacity.
