Finally got Ophelia and Soleil in my playthrough.

Yeah, it takes some work getting Owain up to speed, although whenever I did he promptly became a fucking death machine, while Selena tended to need a lot of love to do much in the way of damage. Inigo effortlessly became a god in every run, but I dunno if that's just good luck or not.

As much as I like Ophelia/Soleil, I do have to wonder why Soleil, the extremely overtly bisexual girl, is not a marriage option for girl Corrins.

I know Tharja's popular and all but I feel like there should probably have been an upbeat gay option for each avatar to go along with Niles and Rahjat.

Only having one gay option per gender/route is kind of a big deal considering how backwards Japan still is. Better to be fed crumbs instead of nothing at all. Baby steps; now that Fates did reasonably well, maybe there will be more options in the next installment.

Foot in the door is important, but still. When in a cast of 50+ possible marriage partners IS chose a stalker and a psychopath as their only gay options you can't help but wonder, even moreso when they had other characters who would have been better suited for the role (Soleil being the glaring example). We'll likely never know why they chose those two specifically, but the obvious interpretations aren't really encouraging for future FE games.

I think Rhajat is more sympathetic than Tharja, and her original JPN S-rank with MU was among the sweetest in the whole game. It makes me a little sad to see people brush her off as a psycho when she's really more very socially awkward.

I just can't fucking use Inigo. I have had him keep pace with the rest of my endgame team in Conquest and he is just not functional. He can't hit. He's as fragile as Azura. He can't dodge. I only got Soleil this time simply because Revelations has the luxury of free-fightan'. Owain could at least zap shit from far away and actually became a pretty kickass samurai/swordmaster.

FE has always reused personalities of popular characters. Chrom was Ike with Sigurd's haircut. Cordelia was just another Catria. Xander is another Camus.

Tharja was popular enough to be a legacy character and her dark comedy obsession with the avatar contributed to that.

Is it perfectly valid to find her personality offputting? Sure, but it's hardly like they're saying "this is what gay people are like"

I would certainly agree with that; among other things, Soleil's preference for her own gender is extremely overt and she's anything but psycho. If I was to guess, the reason both avatars can marry Rhajat is the same reason that there are three Hosidan kids that are almost literally Awakening characters with some of the letters jumbled; they were popular in the last game and Robin/Tharja was popular, so Rhajat got to do what Tharja couldn't and S-Rank the female avatar. Niles, as suggested above, might have been the bi option on a prediction that he would be popular for similar reasons to Tharja, although I'd note that Niles is a lot more self-confident than Tharja or Rahjat; he's not awkward, he's just an ass because it amuses him.

Given the number of times they've touched on non-straight characters in Fire Emblem before (Legault certainly comes across as bisexual and you can cut the subtext in Raven and Lucius's Supports with a knife) I don't think anything negative was meant by who the gay options ended up being in Fates.

You don't have to. The only times you ever "had" to make children was in the 4th and the 13th game, and only the main character's marriage was mandatory.

In 14, Fates, you don't really have to, but a lot of the female "second generation" in Fates break off into their own neat little /u/ pairs(and MC's lesbian marriage option is in the 2nd gen).

She doesn't have a lot of options. One bad thing about the gay hack is that it makes the friendship seals pretty worthless. Wyvern lord is the best and only really viable option since her other classes are all magical and her magic growths aren't stellar.

I chose Fighter for my talent in my last playthrough and Camilla wrecks shit hard as a Berserker. Just don't put her near Mages and she'll be fine. Though her canon class is pretty good (most because of Bolt Axe use, for pure Strength WL is better but goddamn that hideous armour), if not a bit lacking in terms of HP for a class with such mediocre Speed and Res.

I picked Oni Savage for my current (second) playthrough and is going to experiment with an Oni Chieftain!Camilla. It's pretty much a crossover of Berserker and Malig Knight with good HP and Def. Give her the Bolt Axe, Dual Club and if you're feeling ballsy, Calamity Gate (that C-rank in tomes will be hard to get) and she should be fine when it comes to WTA.

I'd rather have Belka or Percy as my WL.

Also is it true that MU can use Friendship Seal with anyone they reach A-support with?

She can also go dread fighter right off the bat and it seems like an interesting class for her.

As for the friendship seal avatar thing, it does for all same-sex options, barring Niles/Rhajat I believe, but since the gay hack introduces an S-rank for every single one of the avatar's usual A ranks, I think it just flat doesn't work any more.

Chieftain has great HP and def growths though, just no skill growth which is the same as Malig Knight. Hpwever, this shouldn't be too much of a problem for her since her base skill growth is 60%

WL is good but the lack of res is definitely troubling, as later in the game you will face a lot of Mages. Plus I feel that Malig Knight, Berserker, and Chieftain have better skills than WL. Rally Def is good though which is why Belka will be my WL.

I meant Camilla's personal growths were middling rather than the class growths. 40/35/45 isn't ideal for such a defensive class compared to someone like Benny with 50/55/45 + 50 skill + wary fighter. Of course, Camilla's bases are high enough that you should be able to preform decently in any class at the very least.

Hardware-wise, the 2DS is exactly the same as the old 3ds.

That video covers OOT3DHax, an entrypoint which you can use to run HANS, but you have to do it every time.

Plailect's guide covers setting up arm9loaderhax, which is more involved but much more stable once it's running, and boots into a hacked system automatically. (OOT3DHax would be necessary for arm9loaderhax if you're on 10.6 or higher.)

I managed mine on my New 3DS in an afternoon with little trouble, just make sure you follow the guide very carefully.

Depending on the method, you can either install something that unlocks all paralogues including the children's, but the only problem with that is if you have same-sex parents, the game won't register the kids of those parents as siblings. Or you can use the longer method and edit the game's code so that the kids are recognized as siblings. Depends on whether you can care about that part or not. Me personally I just installed something and called it a day

For the amiibos, complete a battle and they'll automatically join. Pretty simple

I'm using the ntr method and all I did was replace a file. Not sure if it's same for HANS, but it should be similar. No siblings tho. This makes every single paralouge unlock from the start, but obviously don't try them if the respective parent isn't married.
