My take on it (my japanese isn't great) was that after the danger to Yuma, Hotaru has basically decided to just cut it out. Without any serious translation, she appears to be working part time as a hostess. Not all that surprising given that she is attractive, has a clear understanding of how to act het, and seems to have a less than positive home situation, which might create a need for money.

Hotaru says (just before that bold line where Yuma says she's not going home) "You don't have to worry. It's fine. (because) It's just a part time job."

Then you have Yuma internal text saying approximately, "A part time job she says... In this suspicious shop/store? (where) girls get [grossly] felt up by old men?"
Note that she doesn't know this, it's just an assumption.

Yuma then say something about not being able to leave Hotaru in a place like this.


As bad as it is, the hostess club seems to be pretty on the up and up. If you look back a few pages, all the clients are being pretty decent, they're just talking or have an arm around the girls' shoulders, etc. No feeling up or anything particularly unsettling. My first inclination is to assume it's a fairly regular hostess club where she's trying to make money to help support herself, and Yuma is refusing to leave without her and she can't just walk out of a job.

If she were fine sleeping with old men, there'd be no reason to go to a hostess club, pretty sure you can make significantly more, without taxes, and without having a cut taken by just doing the standard compensated dating thing.

I remember Sasameki Koto around 2011, the biggest yuri manga in publication at the time. Scanlations were 15 chapters behind when the series finished in Japan, and we wouldn't get a completed scanlation until nearly two years later. Nah, I don't think that's what it is. She started out being passive aggressive, then realized Yuma wasn't smart enough to figure it out, then she went on the offense and fucked everything up. Why does Yuri Hime put furigana on 何? Nani is one of the easiest kanji and also one of the first that people learn. It makes no sense. The only other furigana they use is for names, which is normal.
