Because he's not the same John Connor. His mom was one of the other Sarah's that was killed in the T1, which is an alternate timeline. In T2, JC is 9 going on 10. In T3, JC refers to the similar events in his life that occurred in that movie, but when he was 13. If Furlong JC had been 13 in T2, it would've already been AFTER 8/29/97, since he was conceived in '84, and born in '85.
