Yea kinda bullshit though desu. Where would a 17th century Puritan get a fatty like that? Wasn't surprised to learn the actress is part South American.

The ending ruined the whole film.
They could've made it without the flying naked shit, instead giving it a more obscure and mystical ending, maybe even a begining spark for a sequel.

The goat should have got more lines, and screen time.

The ending ruined the entire film. I legitimately burst out laughing when the goat started talking.

I was sad that the father died. The whole end felt kind of contrived.

Absolutely honest. The entire film is pretty straightforward and the ending was perfectly in line with the rest of the narrative.
It's literally an on-screen New England folktale.

I've only saw this movie one time and it wasn't at the theater. In this scene, when she's holding the stick and shaking does she start to levitate a bit? After that, is that supposed to be the witch in front of the moon, riding a broom, or what? I thought it was a crow the first time I saw it.

>Aye. I was conceived in sin, and born in iniquity.
>Adam's sin imputed to me, and a corrupt nature dwelling within me.
>My corrupt nature is empty of grace, bent unto sin, only unto sin, and that continually.

Must be brutal starting off life already knowing you're fucked and forsaken just for the act of existing. It's bleak how fast some people are made to grow up; makes me appreciate that I had a full and decent childhood

Great movie.

Only thing bad is the directors inability to commit to the story. I seen a few interviews where he said he'd like to keep the mystery for the viewers imaginations, implying that it's partially a historical piece. He does this showing that the corn has gone bad, blaming the story on possible ergot fuckery.

What is with these directors and their love for ambiguity?
>>
>>87722139
Kek no
>>
>>87733219
Film is not just spewing out plot points my dude, the experience is everything. Who cares what is the detailed backstory of it all, it doesn't change or improve the experience at all. We know everything we need to know, it's not just ambiguity for the sake of ambiguity.
>>
>>87733219
If I recall, the director didn't come up with the ergot bit. A fan brought it up to him or on some forum, and the director added it to his catalogue of possible explanations/interpretations of the film

It's some bushittery, but regardless, the guy did really damn well for his first time directing a full length movie

>>
>>87733314

I think it is. It undermines the nature of the story. If you set out to tell a mythical witch story, tell the mythical witch story. The experience was great, but it gets to be a bit too much when the only comment a director can make is "YOU CHOOSE WHAT TO BELIEVE."

>>87733332

Yea, I'd like to see what he does next. That natural lighting made the movie much creepier.
>>
I am absolutely in love with this film, seen it 3 times now. It's 10/10

It was extremely historically accurate and everyone had a great delivery, making it in any other way would be worse.

>50% of the movie played "scary" music in the background
Yes anon, films have soundtracks.

>plain cringy dialogue
Again, extremely historically accurate and in line with the narrative. I found that line specifically great and original.

>No explanations about the witches.
Why should there be? Are you so used capeshit that you have to first watch a whole movie about someone's backstory and setting and then can only enjoy the experience?
>>
>>87733800
>t's a shit movie in everyone's book
Only normie casuals hate it because it isn't the usual jumpscare fest.
It is highly critically acclaimed, has high ratings on every site possible and /tv/ pretty much unanimously loves it.
>>
>>87733913
>It was extremely historically accurate and everyone had a great delivery, making it in any other way would be worse
Historically accurate. Witches. Pick one (1)

>Yes anon, films have soundtracks
I think I'm gonna watch it and autistically time each time music plays. I swear it was overkill and very noticable

>Again, extremely historically accurate and in line with the narrative. I found that line specifically great and original.
Yeah I can picture your beta ass hearing it and thinking "Living deliciously...? OMG this movie is really something else! Deliciously... heh! Wow"

>Why should there be? Are you so used capeshit that you have to first watch a whole movie about someone's backstory and setting and then can only enjoy the experience?
An explanation is always better. They didn't provide any because they had no budget. Can you imagine if there was no explanation in Terminator as to why a killer robot is sent back in time?
>>
>>87734452
>Historically accurate. Witches. Pick one (1)
lmao look up the salem witch trials. everyone back then believed in witches. no one is saying they're real
