Blade Runner looks like a culture that was absorbed in that image but not really so glamorous as its advertising would have you believe. What a shame, also I think it's digital, which wouldn't bother me if it wasn't Blade Runner. You're right. One of the best aspects of Villeneuve's cinematography is the way he never lets style overwhelm substance. He's a great director for character-led stories; if the script stands up by itself, you can trust him 100% to put it on the screen without fucking it up.

It doesn't seem like he's the least bit appropriate for Blade Runner. The orange dusty scenes in particular look visually flat. Perhaps he'll make it his own and surprise us all; I sure hope so.
