Where's all the hard fantasy movies?
I want nothing more than some new, big fantasy movies. Huge scale battles, epic Howard Shore music score, fighting with bows and arrows and swords. Saving the world and so on.
Are there any other worthwhile than LoTR?

LotR already perfected it so nobody else bothers. Closest would be things like Narnia or Stardust, maybe harry potter at a stretch, but none of them really compare
shannara chronicles is a teens+beefcake tv adaptation of the terry brooks book(s)
quality is about what you'd expect, only marginally better than capeshit

they are expensive and needs hard craftsmanship

Game of Thrones

Just watch GoT like everyone else senpai

China keeps making those flicks. And it's always about that monkey king

Yeah, Narnia is closest I could think of. Too bad it was made for babbies

>tv series
I'm looking for movies. TV never gets close to the scale and quality of movies. GoT had its moments, but it's not the same.

Yeah, I've seen some trailers and they literally look much better than western movies. Why can't we make those kind of epic movies again..
Know any good?

Things like Troy, Braveheart, Kingdom of Heaven aren't fantasy but they are the closest to what you are looking for.
>>87648396
Yeah, already seen them. Would like to see more of them too

I haven't seen Alexander yet but that's supposedly good. I guess Last Samurai, Master and Commander, 300, Apocalypto could count too, getting pretty far from the aesthetic though at this point.
Problem is movies like this take a lot of effort and care to make good, in a time where it is much more profitable to have two cartoon superheroes punch each other on screen for couple of hours
Legend
Willow
Ladyhawke
Conan the Barbarian
Highlander
The Neverending Story
Clash of the Titans
Jason and the Argonauts
Excalibur

Thanks senpai, will check those out

>Hard fantasy
It's "high" fantasy
"Hard" applies to realistic scifi
