IT will be the most culturally impactful horror film of the past 20 years. When your kids think of horror, when they think of halloween, they'll think of IT. They'll watch IT in the middle of the night without your permission, they'll talk about IT at school. Bill Skarsgard will be remembered and praised for this role until he grows old and dies.
History has been made. Say hello to the new face of horror.
The day people stop being payed to shill this shitheap people will forget it entirely, just like every other recent horror remake except Maniac.
>implying
>>87643546
Jokes on you I don't even think I ever knew what maniac was.
>>87643546
Literally what the fuck is Maniac???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
>>87643608
A remake hyped by idiots.
>>87643506
Anon films stopped being "culturally impactful" in the 90s already, kids today watch a film and forget about it the next day.
It will be one year of dressing up as Pennywise and that's it.
>>87643546
>>87643570
>>87644173
Ahem..
>>87643506
Doubt it anon. This isn't even an indictment against the movie, just that the average consumer is a fuckin mong. Aside from spooky clowns going "BOO and a few kids dressed up as Pennywise, it's gonna be forgotten in a couple years
>>87643546
Considering IT has made more on its opening weekend than a movie with spiderman and iron man, I'd say you're wrongagain

Ahem.. *Avatar*
ENOUGH FROM THE CLOWN
>>87643506
How is this a bad thing? I'd rather watch multiple of these shiny turds than say conjuring #32. I'm fine with it.
Also 70s/80s horror don't even hold up anymore, they're comedies now.
>your kids
>>87644840
>>87644870
>DUDE Avatar lmao
Not an argument
>>87643570
are those the deadlights behind him?
I don't think anyone really cares about Pennywise, people are hungry for a Spielberg style fantasy/horror type film and sick to death of superheroes. I wouldn't mind seeing more King remakes. Cujo and Christine would be cool.
>>87645009
If Avatar making almost 3 billion dollars isn't an argument, how is this anon >>87644636 making an argument then?
>>87643506
People will forget this flick in two years, just in time for sequel
>>87645170
Because it's a movie that just opened up in theaters
>>87645262
But Avatar also made a fuckload of money on opening weekend, what's your point?
>>87644840
>>87645170
>>87644870
Avatar is the one exception because they hyped up the "FULL ON EPIC 3D SO REAL UR EYES WILL BLEED", so everyone went to see it, no one was actually impressed by anything other than the visuals.
Every other movie that made money comparable to Avatar is deeply ingrained in pop-culture. So stop using this faulty argument to disparage things you don't like because they are popular.
>>87645123
No, deadlights are in his head.
>>87645123
>the deadlights
>behind him

So you're saying they hyped up the movie as a visual masterpiece and people were only impressed by the visuals? SHOCKER.

>>87643506
>horror movie
>it's actually a "kids adventure" movie
Try again buddy
>>87646881
I don't see your point. It was hyped for the visuals, people saw it, the visuals delivered.
My point was that it was never anything more than the visuals. Just a generic story, characters, and premise. That is why it isn't remembered and why it is the exception.
>>87643506
It could have and should have been. Instead we got a fun yet generic movie that felt like a Stranger Things spinoff. It wasn't terrible but it feels of missed opportunity and a lack of imagination.

Considering the lack of good mainstream horror in the past decade. You could be right.
It Follows, VVitch, Babadook etc. are good and all, but they just aren't accessible to most people. You have to put the pieces together yourself which most people don't want to do.

IT is good mainstream horror. Too many things hold it back from greatness, though. The Witch will be the classic.

The Ring was pretty scary but they spent too long dwelling on the 'horrific' parts. I remember the horse eye shot being particularly creepy. In fact that whole part of the movie was creepy

>>87643506

>2017 makes a purposely creepy clown costume
My only complaint desu. I've never really found clowns creepy either way bu the remake feels like it's trying to hard with the Pennywise design. Otherwise a pretty a good film. Although there is something I noticed with this movie which is that every scene in context makes sense but taken out of context (like the dancing) looks like shit.
>>87651851
Only thing that could have made it better would be to have It bite into and then rip off Georgie's arm. Maybe that happens in the unrated version. I feel like "cut to cat" was for theaters only

>>87653004
>novel describes pennywise as a generic clown, colorful costume, big red rounded smile
Yes and no. In the book Pennywise is described as a cross between Bozo and Ronald McDonald, but he never looks completely innocent or human. There's always something off about him. Also the costume itself is closer to the new movie: silver suit with orange pompoms. Although they took liberties as one does in a visual medium. They wanted to demonstrate how old It really is by basing the costume off of medieval and Victorian clown costumes.
>trying to hard
I always hate this excuse. It's just a way for lazy idiots to say "I don't like thing" without offering any real explanation. It also smacks of millennial fedoraism.
>>87651539
We've seen the long webm. Context doesn't save this mess.
>dat feel when Georgie had his arm bitten off and was screaming and crying in pain while calling out for his brother to save him
Jesus my younger brother was just like Goergie, that scene messed me up.
The loud ass orchestra ruined the terror of that scene so much
>>87653389
> The face of the clown in the stormdrain was white, there were funny tufts of red hair on either side of his bald head, and there was a big clown smile painted over his mouth. If George had been inhabiting a later year, he would of surely thought of Ronald McDonald before Bozo or Clarabell.
The clown held a bunch of balloons, all colours, like gorgeous ripe fruit in one hand.
He was wearing a baggy silk suit with great big ornage buttons. A bright tie, electric blue, flopped down his front and on his hands were big white gloves, like the kind Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck always wore.
It says silk not silver you massive cunt.
>>87653414
>trying too hard is millennial
Fine faggot, 2017's costume is overall bland and mostly colorless. It caters to the "le creepy clown" meme rather than depicting the corruption of something seemingly innocent.
