I live near where it was filmed in Pennsylvania and there's a festival for it every year at a theater that appeared in one of the scenes. It always gets a really big crowd. Never actually saw it.

The Things is technically a perfect movie but Carpenter has this hypnotizing effect on me and I can barely finish one of his films without falling asleep. Not saying his films are bad. I legit love They Live, The Thing, In The Mouth of Madness, but holy shit they could all cure insomnia. I think it's his minimalistic soundtracks that always have a very slow rhythmic heartbeat sound to them.

The Blob is honestly the weakest and The Fly hasn't aged as well as the others. The Thing is horror kino aesthetic and concept wise, Alien has the best production and set design, and finally Predator and Terminator are both fun with Terminator coming out on top due to the higher concept of the story.

All are really good. Alien and Terminator had stronger sequels though.

The Blob has absolutely fucking phenomenal practical effects. It's really unfortunate that they're in an otherwise forgettable and mediocre movie.
Also a real shame they didn't play the theme from the original Blob, or even a cover.
