I think it was solid snake in MGS1, 2, and 4. I think it was big boss in MGS3 and 5. I thought it was solid snake in ground zeroes but turns out it was big boss, and now there are apparently two snakes in phantom pain and I'm pretty sure I'm playing as big boss but now he's called "Punished 'Venom' Snake" so idk what the fuck is going on with all these clones and all this bullshit

On the contrary, I think it would be a nice twist. Would fit among some of the weirder things there might be in the film. The worst think they can (and probably will) do is try to make it super serious and grounded. Revealing mid way to the audience who doesn't know that the main character is a clone, and the bad guy is also his clone brother will fit in the world that they can create. Make it weird and wonderful.
