The Charlie Brown and Franz Stigler incident occurred on 20 December 1943, when, after a successful bomb run on Bremen, 2nd Lt Charles "Charlie" Brown's B-17 Flying Fortress (named "Ye Olde Pub") was severely damaged by German fighters. Luftwaffe pilot Franz Stigler had the opportunity to shoot down the crippled bomber, but did not. After an extensive search by Brown, the two pilots met each other 40 years later and developed a friendship that lasted until Stigler's death in March 2008.[3]

When was the last time you heard about a capital city revolting against it's own state, creating it's own government, pushing it's own policies, emancipating women's rights for the first time in history almost, creating it's own calendar even, and eventually being absolutely slaughtered with 2 entire districts of northern Paris ending completely burned to the ground and tens of thousands dead?

They were cut off from the rest of France, besieged for months behind the Paris walls, hot air balloons and pigeons were their only means of communication with the external world. All the rich had left Paris, only the poor remained there. But in the end it did not matter if you were rich or poor for if you were in Paris during the bloody week, anyone was guilty and a target for the French army.

The Paris Commune was the first large scale urban civil war of the modern age. It inspired Marx to write about the dictatorship of the proletariat. It's an important and quite unexplored episode of history that was foreshadowing the major conflicts of the 20th century. So yeah it's special and definitely worthy of a screen adaptation.
