can someone explain the idea of a favorite movie?

I've never actually heard someone say or ask this because I don't think such a concept exists. A favorite movie is even more useless than a favorite color. Which is already a childish concept.

You can choose to draw in a favorite color or wear a favorite color. What the hell can you do with a favorite movie besides watch it? Even then? You watching that shit every day? What significance does declaring it as "Your favorite" matter?

The Mirror is his worst. He should've just written a book instead of wasting money on making it.

I get what he was trying to do but his life and his fathers poetry aren't that interesting to begin with. The only saving grace of that movie is that cutie actress.

It's incomprehensible and means nothing. Classical example of can-do-no-wrong attitude towards acclaimed directors. He writes and directs something that clearly only has meaning to him alone and arranges it into a nice package and voila it's a masterpiece. Just as the movie gets good (like the b&w scene in the fsctory where that cunty woman insults the waifu lead actress) he cuts to some other crap. And the confusing casting choice where the same actress plays both his mother and his girlfriend.

ok. you are fucking dumb. not because you didn't like the movie, but because you're so emotionally insecure about your intelligence that you have to assume that if you got nothing from the movie then nobody did. you're assuming a level of insight and intelligence of yourself as being higher than almost everybody for you to make the claim that nobody could "comprehend" something that you did not. if you were not retarded you'd just say that you didn't get it and you're glad that there's experimental films that people genuinely enjoy but they're not your cup of tea. instead you had to be a faggot

Wow you really got worked up there. Obviously I can only talk for myself. I didn't mean to imply that no one can get something out of it. In fact, and I know this looks like a cop out, I first wrote "means nothing to me" but deleted "to me" because it seemed redundant. And I stand behind my opinion that it's very egotistical for a director to make a movie like Zerkalo. It's pure ego to think his fucking fathers average Russian lifestory is worth my 2.5 hours. I appreciate what he was going for, structuring it like memories, because it's true that he brain doesn't work linearly but I really think it doesn't work. And the fucking blatant foreground Andrei Rublev poster only confirms what I've been saying.

And don't fucking even deny that the casting choise was confusing, at least at the beginning. I don't know if it was a budget constraint or like an Oedipus thing

It does, and I love Pulp Fiction but I've noticed that at some point I've outgrown Tarantino in general. It all feels so... meta. I legitimately think he's gotten bigger than his movies. Because as you watch his films you never really get pulled in, you're always so accutely aware that you're watching a Tarantino film.

I would really love for him to try to direct someone elses screenplay, I think that might help

i know you're memeing but a lot of these films are truly fantastic. they're difficult to recommend because i know first hand i would've just found them boring and off putting for most of my life, but a couple years back i started to appreciate true cinema like the films you've listed. i'm not saying this is the reason why, but it wasn't until shortly after I tried DMT for the first time that i was able to truly
appreciate a lot of these films. who knows?
