The Shield is one of the very few shows to have a perfect ending.

A lot of shows compromise when wrapping things up, like Breaking Bad, or just go to shit, like Dexter.

The Shield was as gritty and in your face as it had always been, and they translated that so well to how they wrapped things up.

the ending of the shield was telepgraphed in the first episode. Making everything between the first episode and the last episode nothing but progressively stupider filler.
