Brendan Fraser is actually 7 years younger than Cruise, why have we allowed Cruise to steal his role?
Nice hairpiece mr fooooooouuuuuuzzzee
brendan is too busy
from before release:
>insiders say a $40 million bow (plus a strong overseas haul) would be enough to move forward with the universe as planned
why Tom Cruise
>And the film is expected to do the majority of its business abroad, where Cruise continues to be a major draw. The Mummy will open day-and-date in more than 60 markets, including China.
>box-office analyst Paul Dergarabedian. "If you look at [Universal's] Fate of the Furious, 80 percent of its box office came from international. Tom Cruise is an international superstar, and he remains so.
>Cruise's character will recur in the universe.
marketing:
>Comcast, Universal's parent company, is giving the film its so-called Symphony marketing push in the U.S. in which multiplatform divisions work together to promote a single project.
After terrible reviews and underperforming in US, expected 350 mil worldwide max, but it topped 400.
in next week comes DVD/BluRay, and this is where movie gonna shine. Tom Cruise is undisputed king of home box office. Even shitty "Oblivion" - one of weakest Box Office for Tom Cruise, became top-selling DVD.
TL:DR
from insiders analysit, movie had to pass:
65 mill domestic
278 mill worldwide
anything above is already profit, DVD/BluRay gonna make it shine
Because 'we' have literally no power.

the MUMMY
>cruise is the center of attention
This outlines why it's shit
Russell crowe called Tom a young guy and himself an old one in the movie
Even though he is two years younger than him
>>87371793
it was just a coincidence
>>87371683
They will just make another one and when that flops then I think they will pull it.
Is this really a remake of the bendan fraiser movie? I thought it was just another movie called the mummy with no actual ties to the original except of course for the mummy
>>87372699
of course, after how much they put into it, they will force it no matter how.
Universal doesn't give a shit about US market, and they go for worldwide release. Even if they fail, they always bring these monster once for 20 years or so, since 30s.
30s-40s
break
60s-70s

90s-2000s

2020s-2030s
next reboot should be around 2040s, then 2060s

They have to keep the license alive.
They don't give a shit about quality, as long as they keep the rights, it's perfectly fine by them.
>>87372771
good on you then, many people were expecting 1999 remake. 90% of people don't know any other mummy movies than brandon. then realising it is nothing like or even related to they boycott it
DESU i have mixed feeling with this 2017 one.
LOVED how it followed gothic horror theme, loosely based on 1932 romantic storylie. BUT HATED unnecessary cringy humour (american warewolf in london undead friend) and jeckyll/hyde forcing into it.
sofia was on her own league, she nailed this, even with not so many spoken lines, way how she moves or fights made mummy fascinating, together with great step-by-step (pic related) transformation, from rag and bones to powerful undead princess. tattoos and eyes were 10/10 idea
quote at beginig, straight from 1932 karloff one was just great fan-service to black&white lovers, while brieff shot with amun-ra book reffered to 1999 sommers remake/reboot
7/10 for me, can't understand why they railed it so much
>Cruise - 55 years old
>Depp - 54 years old
>Crowe - 53 years old
>Bardem - 48 years old
JUST

so?
todays movies push mostly to new faces, while Universal is trying to apply to older audience by cast, and younger audience by style
also they are getting older, let them enjoy and have fun becoming (no matter how good or bad) part of iconic movie monsters. many actors are forever remembered due to these roles
Boris Karloff (frank/mummy)
Lugossi (iconic dracula)
Christopher Lee (frank/mummy and also dracula)
remember anything with Arnold Vosloo than Mummy/Mummy Returns?

>remember anything with Arnold Vosloo than Mummy/Mummy Returns?
Titanic, though he changed his name to Billy Zane for some reason
>>87374246
also Elsa Lanchester as bride of frankenstein. literally had like few screen time minutes, no more than 2 - will be remembered forever
