I'm not going to make the claim that any Oreimo character is particularly deep, but Kirino is especially shallow to me. She has her looks going for her, I'll give her that, but she's generally a frustratingly bipolar character without much compelling reason for being that way, and highly questionable reasoning for her taste in anime. I have to rewrite parts of her character in my mind in order to appreciate her, whereas Kuroneko I can more easily enjoy because she's all the good parts of myself. The problem with the series is it gets far too sidetracked with the slapstick comedy bits so the character development leaves something to be desired. I haven't read the books though, so it's possible they're better in this regard and the anime is just a poor adaptation.
