Yep especially the dialogue. Imagine a standard tyrion+daenerys scene, where they're discussing politics, how best to take over westeros, how to rule kings landing, but actually instead of the few scenes we had of that in season 7, there's one of those scenes every 20 minutes, for about 40 episodes straight, they change clothes and the weather changes to let you know it's not the same day/dialogue but it's always the same circle of dialogue they keep retredding. That's how I remember this show anyway. Characters talking about the same shit for hours on end with the plot moving at a snails pace.

The book is well written but it's a product of it's time. Myth is mixed with history and Liu Bei is made out to be some kind of saint while Cao Cao is like the devil himself. Its a practice from ancient times that's rare now. When a person grew up to adulthood he was given a name that has some meaning, compared to their given birth name which is semantically nonsense. For example kongming, the second character can mean bright, smart, righteous. Mengde second character means virtuous. The first character is usually just a surname.
