Entertaining or not? Thrillers are my favorite genre. Is this like Memento?

Entertaining? Yes.
Anything remarkable. Fuck no.

It's a decent watch, but you will forget about it in a week already.
Don't know why you would possibly think this is in any way similar to Memento.

No. Not even close.

>Entertaining or not?

Elements of it are. The dual narrative works to a degree but the connective tissue between the world of the story and 'reality' is so minimal beyond obvious symbolism and paper thin themes. Apart from some great acting from Amy Adams and Michael Shannon (and the others) the movie is really lacking.

Also its hardly a thriller. The thriller elements are entirely fictional within the movie's 2nd narrative - a narrative which is itself predictable.

The acting from Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal was extremely underwhelming.
Just take a shot everytime Amy Adams character stops reading the book and looks at the ceiling all nervous and aggravated, you will be drunk halfway into the movie. And Jake has to resort to his eye twitch gimmick inbetween losing his accent between scenes.
I blame bad directing for this because both of them are usually good.

Shannon and Johnson were great though, probably not thanks to the director.

It is pretentious shit and amy adams can't act.
