They get paid about the same as a generic factory worker but have a higher turnout rate and much worse deadlines
In a smaller studio I think it'd be cool to be part of the animation team, but the stresses of animation always seem ridiculous for the low pay hollywood gives them. It also stands for most of the "technical" positions. They get peanuts for building the movie. James Cameron and other directors bring it up every now and then.

Most of the slave animators aren't even in Hollywood, they're in China, Singapore etc.
