Why doesn't Marvel make another solo Hulk movie? He's

Universal has the movie rights to Hulk and they don't like to play nice with Marvel because they hate money.

Marvel however has the rights to put him in whatever movie they want without worrying about Universal.

So basically he's regulated to Avenger's films and the occasional cameo.

Universal has first dibs on distributing any future solo hulk movies. Marvel/Disney can make the movie, but they have to offer it to Universal first for distribution, which takes a chunk out of Disney profits.

Aside from the Universal snag and the lackluster performance of the first two movies, Hulk is saddled with a real bleh stable of villains. His most consistent antagonist is Ross and the Army, who aren't really villains. Beyond that it's Abomination and maybe the Leader?

Hulk doesn't really have a stand out villain like Loki, Joker or Red Skull.

There's not a lot you could do with the character besides smash shit and run from the army.

Aside from Planet Hulk, the only other story I'd like to see would be a Fight Club-esque story about Banner, Hulk and Mr. Fix it. But you can't really have Hulk fight himself so you'd have to throw an external villain into it and that's too many variables for the Feige Formula to handle.

AFAIK it's an open ended deal. Marvel agreed to it way back in the day when they needed capital and were giving away the store.

Universal has let most of the rights they acquired, like Namor, lapse back to Marvel but since Hulk is such an active part of the MCU they're holding on to that card to fuck with Disney.

It's a different deal than the Sony/Spidey deal, too. Sony had to pitch in for the production of Homecoming and assume some of the risk. Universal doesn't have to pitch in shit on a solo Hulk movie.

Another problem with a Hulk movie is that Bruce works best as a character when he's desperate and on the run. But in the MCU he's best buds with Tony Stark, and always has a place to come home to.

You'd have to take the Stark friendship out of the equation and that means no milking RDJ cameos.

No rights tangles, fits the tone of the MCU more and direct competition for Wonder Woman.
