Now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that the American cut is far superior to the Japanse cut?

The 1954 film absolutely not, the American cut is still good for sure but it's not as personal or as emotionally effective.
The American edits for 1984 & G2000 however are superior.
G2000 for just vastly superior sound & editing.
1984 for the added American music tracks being great & fitting with the original score seamlessly, for Burr returning adding nostalgia, for editing out a few shots that showed how poor the cyborg looked under the neck & most importantly for editing the missile collision scene monumentally more competently. Them making the Russians the bad guys was inconsequential to me.

The original film is a metaphor & meditation on the atomic bombs so yes that is exactly how it was meant to be taken.

King of the Monsters actually remains surprisingly faithful to the original cut and Raymond Burr provides an interesting presence. A lot of time and care was put into this film.
