Real basically, there obvious explicit meaning, and then deaper implicit meaning. I think you just need to gather the oieces of the explixit meaning conveyed to help dive deeper to find the implicit meaning.

You have to change your whole mindset on films in general.
You are only consuming films, not experiencing them. Films are merely plot points for you that you need to decipher. I would presume you even half watch them on a laptop/computer screen with one earbud on.
Be aware that there is no definitive answer to every frame in most great films, start to think of them as an experience and treat them like that.
Looking for a singular universal "message" from a film is a pretty surface-level casual way of thinking. Movies aren't puzzles which you have to put together in a certain kind of way to "get" them.
