am I the only one who used to watch Lucky Luke and Asterix cartoons as a kid? This stuff is gold

I had some collections of both comics, btw this is /tv/
>>
>>87183562
Don't care. You should have mentioned read.

What else you read? Also, state your favourites
>>
Who /autistically wore mom jeans to look like Lucky Luke/ here?
>>
>>87183677
Reading? man that shits gay.
>>
>>87183677
dunno m8 I had some volumes featuring many different stories, haven't read those in a decade or so. I just happened to rewatch this movie yesterday. Basically no one knows about Lucky Luke in my country
>>
Anyone have thoughts about Don Rosa's Scrooge?
>>
I had some PC demo game where the horse talked 4-leafed clovers and then you'd get into a shootout or something. Fuck that was a fun game.
>>
>>87183677
Jesse James easily.
Did they made more movies than Daisy Town and his greatest trick? I remember one with a mine but iirc that was his greatest trick.

Only ever watched Asterix not read. Britain is the best. It stands out by atmosphere alone but in other aspects it is best too like the rugby game. Though for me as a kid it was kinda dark.

Also there's a real life adaptation with Terence Hill as Lucky Luke that I really liked but it's more Terence Hill-ish than Lucky Luke-ish

I'd gather everybody in France between the ages of 20 and 40 used to watch Asterix movies as a kid. I know I did.

Exterminate the rest?
>>
>>87183861
>Jesse James
Meh. Could be top 10

My personal favourite is, shockingly, Belle Starr, because literally everybody appears on that one. Emperor Smith, Rantanplan Heritage, Grand Duke, Stagecoach and Bountry Hunter are also solid picks
>>
>>87183808
>tfw I had a collection of them as a kid
>tfw my father threw them away for some reason

I love my father, but I will never forgive him for doing that. I still remember many details of it, like Scrooge vs Teddy, Scrooge in Dead Horse's Meseta, the dream episode, Maga going into the past, the cutty sack, the klondyke adventure
>>
>>87183164
loved Asterix as a kid

My favorite one is The 12 Tasks of Asterix (doesnt base of a comic but it is still great)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtEkUmYecnk
>>
>>87183861
>Britain is the best
I like 12 tasks the most, it happened to have the same voice actors as The Ballad of the Daltons in my country (with Asterix being Joe Dalton), one of the best dubs I've ever heard

>>87183808
I loved it, made me love Scrooge
>>
Don't know what lucky Luke is but the asterix movies were such a let down for me. I loved the comics and the humor in themnwas mostly wordplay based which didn't come through in vo. Also, at least for the English dub the voice acting was shit.
>>
>>87183164
loved both as a kid, still read the comics every now and then
>>
>>87184089
>>87184123
PASSIERSCHEIN A38!!!!!!

It's actually really mediocre. Half the tasks are just lazily written in and the general tone is kinda off.
Rewatched it recently after a /tv/ thread. I'm sure with all the other movies available as comparison you will find it kind of meh beyond mere nostalgia
>>
>>87184031
>forced to work a job over summer break
>live at a dormitory for the job since it's the cheapest rent option and the job is 100 miles away from home
>get one day off a week
>go to the local town on day off to browse the shops
>find a box of mint-condition disney comics in mylar sleeves in an antiques shop
>owner says i can have the box for ten dollars
>take the box home after summer
>parents throw it into the trash
I love my parents but I will have revenge someday
>>
>>87184224
i found some of the tasks funny like the guy who tried to hypnotise them

voice acting is absolutely god tier in the italian version of LL and Asterix movies

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTYa_7SEhT4

>>87184224
maybe it's the dub, maybe it's nostalgia, but I like it as a collection of different little stories

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_LC-v6B9qY

>>87183866
I honestly don't even know where to find them, they're not popular in my country. If you want to share some sites or link I'd be happy
>>
>>87184283
Me too but you clearly notice that they had no original to work with. Some tasks are just written in to get to 12. On the dumb mountain they fucking feel some towels.
>>
>>87184427
>On the dumb mountain they fucking feel some towels.

that's the joke
>>
>>87184411
The only reasonable choice for you to do is to learn French or Portuguese or a language that has their comics translated and move to a country that has the comics
>>
>>87184427
agree somewhere mediocre but some where great. another good one was when Asterix had an debate with a ghost
>>
>>87184481
I know but come on.
You can't compare something in which a challenge contains: Obelix has to eat a lot
to stories like Cleopatra.
>>
>>87184652
it works as a comedy though, it has plenty of fun characters and absurd situations. Maybe it's not like the comics idk but the film itself is solid. The Cleopatra movie is very good too

Asterix and Cleopatra, the comic, is theultimate pleb filter
>if you think it is one of their best, you are a pleb
>>
>>87183677
Best comics to read, no particular order:

Lucky Luke
Asterix and Obelix
Tintin
Donald Duck (Carl Barks only)

For strips, Calvin and Hobbes

And yea Lucky Luke, Asterix and Tintin cartoons are great too. But then they are basically straight up animated versions of the comics, so its impossible to fuck up.
>>
>>87184871
>No Corto Maltese
>no Blacksad
>no Thorgal
>no Blake and Mortimer
>no Mafalda

It's getting pretty hard for me not to call you a pleb...
>>
>>87183808
Its great. Most of Rosa's stuff is desu, though some of it gets a bit too detailed for my liking. I wish they would make a straight up animation adaptation of The Life and Times.

>Obelix, you can't take Idefix on a trip to Egypt. He is too small for a trip like that

Tintin:

>HOLY SHIT, TOURNESOL! WE'RE GOING TO THE FUCKING MOON!? OMG! MILOU IS COMING WITH US, RIGHT!? YOU MADE HIM A SUIT SO HE CAN WALK AROUND THE MOON AND GET LOST LIKE A RETARD ON ICE CAVES, RIGHT!? RIGHT!?!?!?

>>
>>87185047
I wonder if people in the US or elsewhere know or like the second movie. It's such a comedy classic here in France.
>>
>>87185212
Meh, it's tolerable

>that Zidane cameo though
>>
Lucky Luke: Western Fever was the first game I owned on PC.
I got a demo disc from a cereal box.
>>
>>87184031
My father collected Donald comics, had like every issue from the beginning (Norway) until I moved out (2010).

I really want to buy the complete Barks collection for him but the fucking jews at Egmont refuse to reprint them. "muh collectors". Fuck you, seriously.
>>
>>87185212
USman here, I know of it and like it but it's a little obscure. Speaking of France, what's with your country being invaded by Africans and Muslims? Not to put too fine a point on it, but it seems like your culture is being completely destroyed, is this accurate?
>>
We saw Asterix at school more than once. Our French teachers actually picked really good movies, considering the audience were a bunch of impatient teenagers.
>Asterix&Obelix
>Taxi
>Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis
>Le Scaphandre et le Papillon
Could've been much worse.
>>

>>
>>87185266
where are you from?

>>87185351
Not from my point of view. It's changing, it's not getting destroyed or replaced. It's true that some muslims refuse to integrate but the vast majority of them do, and they contribute to the culture rather than destroy it. As for blacks, most of them are from french colonies, meaning they're christian and they're more likely to integrate, especially since racism against blacks isn't as prevalent as it used to be and has mostly refocused on arabs/muslims. There are black people in the Front National now.
>>
>>87184871
Don Rosa > Carl Barks fåvæ
>>
>>87185558
Portugal
>>
>>87184986
All of those (except Mafalda, which is shit) are a completely different kind of comics, with less humour and written for older kids.
>>
>>87185588
Even Rosa himself disagrees, pleb. Rosa is great, but Barks is the GOAT. Just disregard almost all of the junior woodchuck stories.
>>
>>87185625

Dude, I don't agree with her politics either, but that sure is a great comic
