Why is this allowed? Does this absolutely destroy anyone else's immersion? Am I seriously supposed to believe that there are two completely different characters who just happen to literally be the same person?
I can only get past this if the actor is covered in so much makeup that they're unrecognizable.

Unless it makes absolutely no sense, I like pretending prominent actors carry on new lives in the different productions they're in.
House had so many different notable actors playing so many minor roles that alternate lives was actually plausible.
