I get the criticism of the story and logic, but what about that cinematography? Light screaming like a girl. Inappropriate music during misa's death. How are these not on the same scale of animu light eating a potato chip?
It was a fun ride, with a great use of colors and kinetic environments.

Honestly, the anime wasn't as stupidly weird as this shitty movie. You'd think they'd tune it down for live action, but out of left field comes the detective training camp for 6 year olds.
I actually liked L in this, Light was trash, as was Mia. Ridiculously bad acting.
Way too short, no focus. Light just confides in this girl he doesn't even know...
Why the fuck didn't Mia WRITE DOWN THAT LIGHT HAS TO HAND HER THE BOOK.
I wonder what asspull they're going to use to have Light survive for a sequel.

Ryuk was well done, although his head was a bit too big. Complete waste though. He works as neither an antagonist nor as a manual. He's just there.

I doubt it got the views required to greenlight a sequel. netflix has been a lot more careful about greenlighting/renewing stuff what with their catastrophic debt. most people who watched it watched it from torrents and 99 out of 100 people think it's shit. also, adam wingard will be busy directing king kong vs. godzilla for the next 2-3 years so they'd have to find a replacement and who'd take a job like that?

I admit I've only seen the anime, but Light-Ryuk had an interesting relationship dynamic. I don't know if friends is the right word, but Ryuk was impressed with Light and we also got to see some of the shinigami world.
