What was the point of L and the police even trying to find Kira? L's suspicion of how Kira was doing murders was "remote viewing/psychic abilities".

How can he even be arrested for that? How would that hold up in court? It would just make L look like an actual insane person if he accused Light of that in court.

I liked the ambiguous ending. I'd like to imagine that L couldn't come to kill Light even though the opportunity was right there, since he'd stoop to Light's level. Hence Ryuk's comment and laughing.
