So why did Cersei lie about helping the North? Her scheme with Euron was already in place, she did not need to distract them or anything with this promise.
She needs to transport a huge army to the North, someone is going to find out soon enough that not a single person (except Jaime) is coming so they'd find out about her lying soon enough. Maybe I'm messing something.

In fact, the only thing this caused is her to be even less reliable, and caused Jaime to leave her. It seemed to me Jon and Daenerys were going to try to fight the zombies with or without her help. Her refusing to help because Jon went muh queen was actually a fairly legit reason, now she is the bad guy again.

We need a proper thread discussing this guy's abilities and motives.

From what I can tell he knew dany and the dragons were coming. He sat on that horse and didn't attack Jon and crew for at least a day we're made to believe right? With it being light dark then light again at the frozen lake.

His regular weapon of choice was absent and instead he and the walkers were equipped with javelins BEFORE THE DRAGONS GOT THERE.

Now think of the lord of light. Visions in the fire allowing glimpses of the future. Melisandre tries to set the stage and allow that vision to come to fruition. Evidence there is telling stannis to go north when she saw the battle of the bastards in the flames, NOT stannis vs boltons.

So it seems obvious to me the NK is also having glimpses of the future. He saw the ice lake and the dragons. You also have to ask yourself why eastwatch specifically? Because whatever he saw showed him eastwatch and a dragon taking the wall down.

The only way to salvage the NK backstory is brans role in s8. There has to be a backstory explained because so far he's just the typical big bad.

Remember in Season 2( I think) when Theon explains how he's sick and tired of hearing how grateful he should be about how well Ned Stark treated him, because no matter how good the treatment was he was still a boy taken from his family to a strange land and literally held as a hostage? It was back when this show has complexity, so you could have a grey character like Theon who had a legitimate grievance against the Starks. But now that it's Season 7, Theon totally agrees that the Starks are the Good Guys and so he was completely wrong.
