Recommend me a movie featuring Oliver Cromwell for someone, non-English Eurofag, who knows little-to-nothing about the English Civil War or him.
Cromwell (1970) About as good as you're gonna do.

This, though the movie lionizes him in a way that is not entirely representative of reality (doing things attributed to others, and being a "voice of democracy" - the usual film liberties to make a story). Alec Guinness has a great supporting role in the film.
I'd love a movie that brings up the more unpopular aspects of his personality, like his banning of Christmas and dancing, and his penchant for genocide.

Parliament banned Christmas, not him, but I would like a film or tv show involving his actions in Ireland and his work training the new model army
Cromwell 1970
To Kill A King 2003
Cromwell is far better than To Kill A King, but the latter has nice music
