Watching through The Return again so everything is fresh in my mind for the finale. One thing that has really struck me this time through that hadn't before was the absence of Michael Ontkean. I guess I had come to terms with it well before the premiere but watching all of these scenes of Frank Truman talking on the phone with Harry back to back really bums me out that he wasn't around. Especially knowing that Lynch wanted him there.

That being said Robert Forster is great and overall it's not a major issue. I just feel like having Ontkean present in this series would have helped bridge The Return with the first 2 seasons even more.

I felt that way at first, but it's probably better this way. The Return is so different from the original run that having another key character missing feels right. Plus it gives Hawk a bigger role that he never had before and he's become a much better character for it. I think having so much Harry without Coop would be weird too.
