I get the Kurosawa blu-ray collection and put on blood throne. I explain its Macbeth in nip land so they can follow along even with out paying attention.

Don't even bother. I only watch kino by myself or with my brother, who's actually into movies (e.g., he watches TCM constantly and reads books about cinema). When I am with other people I just put on the sort of garbage that I "watch" while cleaning my house or playing video games.

if you do want to try though you need to go with toe in the water films like the lobster along with current oscar nominees before you get into any actual kino

I normaly do just put on watchable "flicks" but I occasionaly delude my self into thinking this will be the one they just sit and watch but it never is
