What annoys me the most is that while they wax nostalgic about their dear old pa, they ignore the first lesson he imparts in the first scene of the first episode of the first season of the show: the person who decides the punishment carries it out. Did the story editor in charge of the Winterfell plot even watch the show?

I agree 100% with what you're saying, but I guarantee D&D are cognizant of it and will probably draw attention to it in season 8 a la daenerys and missandei's "all men will die" "we are not men" or whatever the fuck they said exactly scene. Or a la "the prince or princess who was promised".
