why does the t-1000 need to "heal" at all, it doesn't later on, it basically just roleplays being knocked unconscious and needing to lay on the floor for a bit, but since its a movie thats the point where you are introduced to his abilities and you need to ratchet up his feats so he gets progressively more threatening

it was actually a great touch, that terminators walk at you slowly to melee was always dumb, he unloads at range first giving the impression he's there to kill you and not fuck around

also in the steel mill you start getting the feeling the terminator rivalry is getting personal

small touches like that can make a dude with a glock more menacing than a cyborg throwing a car

He got shot by a shotgun multiple times. That's why he was thrown back and stunned. In other scenes, he's being shot by pistols while running at full speed. Those aren't going to stop him in his tracks compared to a shot gun.
