although Ryuk was perfect and some scenes were alright it honestly felt like 100 different writers trying to create the story
like they couldn't decide if they wanted it to be a cheesy b-movie highschool tier "if only I had superpowers I would defeat my bullies! I would get the girl!" type movie or if they wanted it to be a serious detective-themed movie, which is more in tune with the original.
and they couldn't decide if they wanted L to be an underground gangsta type or an autistic genius so he just comes off as awkward and nonthreatening.
the most enraging part was how misa/mia emotionally manipulates light even though he never actually liked her from the beginning in the show.
they defeated light's entire character by making him the "outcast" when he's supposed to be the perfect popular boy who everyone loves- that's where he gets his god complex from.
overall it felt extremely rushed and dumb.

and its gonna feel like a B-movie regardless, cuz the original story is shlock as fuck
but should have made it several movies. given it time to breathe. and should not have derived from the original story so much
