If that trailer is anything to go by, someone needs to be ashamed of themselves at this generic music choice. A series about Templars should be almost all God-choruses an hymns. It doesn't sound right with wubeth.

>the Crusades
We live in the time of political correctness. There is no way they can glorify the violence that the Crusades bought with them. We're probably going to have at least one main character who has strong moral problems with DEUS VULT. There is also now way the show can just pretend the Crusades aren't a thing so they'll have to deal with it, but I foresee they'll deal with it poorly.

>the Grail
If this treasure hunt is the show's main story (and it looks like it is) then they're going to have to find it at some point, even if it is just to make the show end. The problem with treasure hunts is that it's going to be very hard to make it feel satisfying to the viewer.

Here it can go two ways. Both are equally silly:
1. Christcucks on suicide watch. "Le pope is evil xD" and shit.
2. God isn't in the church he's in every religion and everyone is equal and everyone should just be nice to each other because that's what God wants.

Don't get me wrong, I'll still watch, but I am too jaded to assume anything like this will be downright good.

The series would feel oppressive and somewhat apocalyptic, and probably wouldn't appeal to an essentially secular culture. On the other hand, "knights treasure hunt for the grail while the king tries to destroy them" sounds alot more exciting and doesn't touch on the somewhat sensitive issue of muslim-christian conflict.

It basically boils down to the fact that the people who fund and control these things are businessmen interested in making a fuck load of money, not artists or historians interested in creating something unique and meaningful.

There's some nuggets of truth here and there, like the Crusades weren't a blatant war of aggression and a response to Muslim invasions.

Yet they completely miss that and instead glamorize an utterly retarded conflict. If the Crusaders focused on the reconquista and defending Byzantium instead of, ya know, SACKING IT, Christendom would have been far better off than some pointless and doomed struggle to reclaim Jerusalem for religious reasons. All of this "redpilled" conflict of course was manipulated by Venetian merchants to expand their trade empire, and these dumbasses fell for it.

All the Crusades did was fuck over Western civilization.
